💕 We love a good photobomb! 💕

We were just filming two of our favourite home-bred fawn girls on the farm; Natterjack Belle of the Ball and Natterjack Penny Lane, and lovely Natterjack Trick Shot just had to photo bomb.

All three girls are total darlings, and can’t resist saying hello to the camera 📷

We love it when even on a blustery day, the cria always look relatively unimpacted, even their top knots don’t budge!

💙 The babies are looking absolutely adorable 💙

This has to be one of our favourite ages for the alpaca babies. They have grown quite a bit of fibre since their cria shear- cria shearing is where we carefully shear off the sticky amniotic tips of their fibre, giving us beautiful useable fibre the following year, especially for the hand spinners.
They are also looking super stocky and chunky!

The drought and extreme heat certainly feels like a distant memory that’s for sure. Our fields are back to how they normally are, lush West Lancashire grass- it is hard to beat!

🦙 Have you ever considered llama ownership? 🦙

With 21 lovely llamas on the farm, and some beautiful Bonnie babies, we are beginning to consider how may possibly be available for their next big adventure.

Why llamas?

🦙 Llamas have been bred for generations to work WITH people. When well bred and correctly trained they are kind, gentle and confident animals. They are perfectly suited to being handled and walked

🦙 They come in endless colours and patterns, and every cria is a surprise. Lovely Hiccup the big brown girl in the background gave birth to the colourful Llamasuri infront of her, Astrid

🦙 With the UKs only Llama show planned for April next year at Southport Agricultural Show Ltd , it is a super exciting time to get involved in llamas.

🦙 As long term alpaca owners and breeders, llamas offer a different dimension on the field, both physically and interactively!

We are delighted to welcome prospective new llamas owners to the farm (as well as existing llama owners fancying some new genetics!), to come and ‘chat llama’ with us, and see the animals we have for sale.

For those further away, we are preparing a hand selected list of quality llamas which will be available in the coming months.

🎭We don’t call them Drama Llamas for nothing! 🎭

Llamas are simply lovely, they get a very bad rep, which we see repeatedly reinforced by a lot of people. They are naturally incredibly confident and nosey. Despite their huge size, these llama babies are between 2-3 months old. They are just starting to get nice and confident, but they do still have their big baby moments.

Here, lovely Puffin comes marching over, gives me and big sniff, and then decides it’s all far too scary. Glinda, Americano and Ruby in the background just join in the run for fun.

Ruby even looks back as if to say ‘wait, hold on, why are we running from her again?!’

This weekend, we ran our first ‘Crafty with Camelids’ style weekend.
Day one was with Eden Textiles Studio and Galloway Forest Fibre. Where our participants learned how to felt. Starting with a vessel, and moving onto a beautiful scarf.

🌟 A little Star update 🌟

Three of our lovely llama cria needed a bit of extra support this birthing season due to the heat. The other two, Americano and BB-8, are coming along brilliantly. They are big, bold, and you would never know they needed an extra hand!

Little Star, however, does still stand out in the field a bit.

Despite having everything thrown at her, she has taken the slower route. But she is still happily bobbing about the fields with her mum, eating grass and gobbling up her hard feed.

Mum now feeds her a couple of times a day, which is lovely to see. Initially, Aymara wanted nothing to do with her, which was very unusual for her! Star has been nibbling hard feed since she was just a few days old, and she is now old enough to get more benefit from it, which is a huge bonus.

She is unlikely to ever reach full height, but she is slowly but surely turning into a little chunky monkey. As long as she can have a happy life, we are happy—even if she is going to be the smallest llama around. ❤️

🖤🤍 Mini-Me isn’t quite so mini! But little Puffin her daughter sure is! 🤍🖤

Mini-Me was named because she was a mini version of her dam, but the funny thing is that this year, she created her own ‘Mini-Me’. They share the same colouring, similar pattern but most importantly, the exact same expression and look. Even when all Puffin can do is peer over her mum’s back!

We decided calling her Mini-Mini-Me was a little long winded, so Puffin was out next choice. An adorable little black and white ball of cuteness was really did fit the criteria.
