💐 O M G… that’s 4 days at Southport Flower Show 2026 wrapped up! 💐

We are exhausted, ecstatic and very proud all rolled into one.

We have spoken to SO many people from Su Pollard to the incredibly popular Dinosaur Andy.

On the first day, for a bit of fun, we tried counting how many times we got asked ‘what is the difference between an alpaca and a llama’, and quickly gave up once we hit 50 by lunchtime!
But every single question was an opportunity for us to share a bit of alpaca and llama love with every visitor to the show.

A huge thank you to everyone that made this years Southport Flower Show just as amazing as the last.
The team at the show is just the best, from the organisers, to the cleaning crews, volunteers and everyone other person who makes this show what it is.

💐 Prince is all ready to go! We will be at Southport Flower Show for all 4 days with some of our lovely boys 💐

We will be offering mini alpaca walks, hand feeding, and we will be on-hand to chat all things alpaca!

We will also have on sale some of our wonderful hand made alpaca products, some novelty alpaca products and some alpaca fibre.

We look forward to seeing everyone!

🍀 Some days we just have to stand back and appreciate how lucky we are 🍀

We are so lucky that we get to spend our lives with these gorgeous animals.
A field of thriving baby alpacas and llamas really is hard to trump.
We are also so lucky that we get to share our wonderful herd with the world 🌎

🥳 Cria playtime is always the best 🥳

Taking centre stage are two more besties, Bullseye (black) and Blueprint (white). They play fairly endlessly. But BB-8 one of our lovely llama cria is also desperate to join in the fun. He is such a lovely gentle boy but the alpacas don’t quite include him in their games. Luckily, he has lots of other llama cria who do!

🤍 Loro and Casino are one of the many friendships in the fields 🤍

We find friendships in cria so important. It doesn’t always matter who their dams are friends with, and it doesn’t always depend on when in the season they were born (although, those born closer together usually quickly form bonds).
These two young boys often spend most of their day together, getting up to mischief!

📝 Making a mental note of these friendships is something we tend to do for husbandry reasons as well. Ensuring we wean these two boys in the same group is likely to really help the transition for the down the line. But for at least a few more months they can continue causing havoc in the mums and babies group.

🩶 Silver Spectre looking glorious 🩶

Silver Spectre is one of our very special Velvet Hall Phantom babies. Phantom has done the most amazing job this year for us, all his cria are just super.

Breeding grey alpacas again was a big decision, but we are so glad we decided to bring Phantom into the herd. He is a fan favourite and produces awesome babies.

😋 Talisman is a cheeky thing! 😋

Alpacas aren’t know for sticking their tongue out, they don’t ‘lick’ in that they won’t lick their young or lick a salt lick (they may nibble at things instead). But Tali didn’t seem to get the memo!

We still have availability for our amazing alpaca activists this weekend. Based in Ormskirk, West Lancashire, not far from major cities such as Liverpool and Manchester.

🦙 Why visit Natterjack Alpacas? 🦙

We are the largest herd in the area, currently home to 100 alpacas and 21 llamas! There is nothing else like seeing our big family (and yes, we really do know everyone by name!) 💖

Our amazing ‘alpaca experiences’, they are totally unique, bespoke private session. Suitable for ALL AGES- this involves lots of alpaca cuddles, hand feeding and of course an alpaca walk. It is a bit of ‘everything’ when it comes to alpacas.

Or if you fancy something a bit more walking based, our ‘alpaca treks’ (which are more of an amble), are available for those 16 and over. Get teamed up with your own alpaca for the duration of this time!

✂️ The alpaca babies have had a little haircut! ✂️

We introduced cria shearing a few years ago, both for fleece quality and welfare.
Cria are born with sticky amniotic tips to their fleece, meaning everything sticks to them! Removing a few centimetres now helps prevent their fleece becoming matted, the early spring born cria certainly appreciate not being a big over fleeced mess come shearing day the following year as well.

Cria shearing does need to be done carefully because of the risk of mum rejecting her newly trimmed baby. We’re delighted that all 27 cria this year were happily accepted straight back by their mums - just as they have been for the past three years. The process takes a matter of minutes and they wait with their mum in the catchpen before, and go straight back to mum❤️
