Jack's latest staff pick: Dog Point Chardonnay 🍷

Made by Ivan Sutherland and James Healy in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley. Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeast in French oak, this is a Chardonnay with real presence.

White peach and citrus up front, flinty minerality underneath, and a textured, savoury finish. Taut, saline and precise — with some vintages leaning surprisingly close to a fine Chablis.

Pour it with scallops, roast chicken, or anything off the grill.

When a customer asks for a red that’s not too heavy… these are the bottles we reach for. 🍷

G.D. Vajra Dolcetto d’Alba
‘Dolcetto’ means little sweet one — but this one’s dry and moody. A bit like Jack, apparently (his words, not ours!).

Expressive red fruit, delicate florals and a hint of spice. Fantastic producer, outstanding w**e.

Domaine de Colette Beaujolais-Villages
Third-generation w**emaking, with juicy red fruit and a touch of spice. Chill it slightly, pour it generously.

Two lighter reds well worth picking up from Broadway Cellars Oundle.

Shelf spotlight: Librandi Cirò Bianco 🇮🇹

This one's a little slice of Calabria in a glass — Greco Bianco grapes grown right along the Ionian coast, with sea breeze practically built into the flavour.

Pale straw, aromas of white peach and citrus, crisp acidity, and a finish with just a hint of salinity.

It's the kind of w**e that makes you close your eyes and pretend you're on a patio somewhere warm (even if it's just your kitchen table).

Chill it down, pour generously, and pair with grilled fish or fried calamari — or honestly, just olives and good company works too.
