Feast Queens

Feast Queens Two women packing a punch with vegetables. We, Fran & Rupali are Feast Queens...two women passionate about FOOD & FEASTING!

We are wild for flavours from the East & West, using herbs & spices to create tantalising dishes, sharing our creations at markets, pop-ups, workplaces, private events and parties. Originally from London and have now settled and grown deep roots in Oxford. We were introduced by our dear friends, Simon & Suzie but can't quite remember whether it was at the Rusty Bike or the Kaz Bar, where we share

our first few drinks. With Simon's never-ending critique about each of our dinner parties, we soon realised that we shared a love for creating delicious food. However, it wasn't until we met for an impromptu drink on a sunny afternoon, that we stumbled upon an idea to turn our love for cooking into a culinary adventure!! Our roots are Middle Eastern and Indian and we've been surrounded by so many amazing different cultures growing up in the big smoke. This has influenced our style of cooking and made us wild for flavours from around the globe. We're fascinated by the whole process from farm to fork and love to know the origin of our produce, the season and the relationship between ingredients and creating the ultimate taste sensation! Nature's food table inspires the core of each of our dishes, alongside a whole host of herbs and spices, inspired by Eastern and Western cuisines. We embarked on our exciting journey in 2019 to create delicious dishes that aim to tantalise your taste buds using vegetables, pulses and fruit as "the showstoppers". You'll find us at pop-ups & festivals and we also cater for private events and parties so follow our social media pages to find out more info on future events

An asian inspired FEAST created for a small party of 13 lovely dinner guests last night. All homemade with love, full of freshness & pops of colour!!! Lots of lovely sharing platters and a family style feasting.

If you’ve not used fresh turmeric before, you definitely need to add this to your curries but glove up to prepare it and don’t use your wooden board or spoon unless you don’t mind it turning golden yellow!!! It’s got a more aromatic vibrant citrus ginger flavour burst where the powder is more bitter & earthy.

Thank you so much Ro Leaver for booking and supporting local

Diwali…the festival of lights and a festival where you are showered with delicious feasts!!

This is my Khajur Bharfi, a super easy Indian sweet that you can enjoy anytime of year!! #

All you need is

500g pitted dates
200g chopped roasted nuts of your choice - I went for a mix of almonds, cashews and pistachios
1 heaped teaspoon ground cardamom
Desiccated coconut

🪔Blend the dates & cardamom in a Magimix with the blade attachment till it is well combined and forms a soft paste

🪔Work the chopped nuts in to the date paste

🪔Roll date & nut mix into a sausage shape - roughly 5cm diameter

🪔Roll the date sausage in the desiccated coconut and then wrap@in grease proof paper

🪔Refrigerate for about 4 hours or overnight

🪔 Slice into 1cm pieces

ENJOY!!

Impromptu friends rounds for dinner…I wanted to make dal makhani traditionally made with black lentils. No sign of black lentils but plenty of green moong beans in the cupboard (they must have been on special offer which is why I have so much!). Anyway it was equally as delicious and super quick to cook. This dal is a little more decadent, so just perfect for the winter months…spiced with lots garlic & ginger and finished off with garam masala, dried fenugreek leaves, a touch of cream and a smoky spiced butter!

This tamarind & date chutney is a party of sweet sour tangy & spicy !!! You got to put some work into straining every last bit out of the pulp but it is soooo worth it!!! Can’t wait for the mother of feast queens to taste test this at the weekend as we meet to continue the Diwali & the New Year celebrations 🪔
