Yesterday was all about Picnic Wine Tasting π§Ίπ₯π·
I selected 6 wines which I feel are the perfect match with long afternoons in the sunshine, great conversations & that pair perfectly with our favourite picnic treatsβ¨ππΌ
Think crisp, fruity and refreshing wines!! English fizz has to play a part in any picnic this Summer!!! We chose by , and it was a firm favourite! Approximately 3 years ageing, adding additional complex flavours and depth, Champagne method & Champagne grapes, absolutely gorgeous π
For the whites this week it's been all about Picpoul, so I went for the Picpoul de Pinet, light, dry, citrus & stone fruits, easy drinking with a zesty acidity, so food friendly! Our other white wine was the showstopping Assyrtiko by , I loved this one, nice tropical fruits on the nose and palate, yet still refreshingly dry! Great with Mezze boards and Mediterranean picky bits!
Check out the rosΓ©!! I deliberately didn't go for Provence, as I love my wine groups to branch out and try other regions. This rosΓ© was π― Cinsault from South Africa. Pale and light in texture, with a touch of sweetness!
Pinot Noir was my choice for the red π· Light/medium body, from cool climate Yarra Valley in Victoria, Australia. This went down very well with everyone! Smooth, silky, fruity and one you can even chill on warm evenings!
To end the event...the party loviy Brachetto d'aqui; sweeter wines with sweeter dishes!! An Italian classic, sweet sparkling wine. Serve chilled, 5.5% abv, light in alcohol but rich in flavour and sweetness π¨ π°
Fabulous afternoon! Thanks
And thank you to everyone who attended!
