No question is a stupid one…

So yesterday turned out to be a busy day. In amongst everything, we took delivery of this new chap from Rue Wood Pedigrees.

He’s a little bit of a gamble for us as shearling breeders but we have followed Ben and the team at Rue wood for a while. Seeing them turn out consistently good sheep. Particularly females and we are looking to improve and grow the females.

He’s maybe a little too much peeled out for my usual liking, but the carcass he has is unbelievable. We will give him 10-15 ewes this year, probably some of the looser skinned shearlings and we will see how he does. But i think he’s going to fit in just fine here at Thrimby.

Give the guys a follow to see some pedigree stock.

James is at after school club tonight, in the tractor with Granda. Probably listening to R.E.M or Meatloaf eating an ice cream. On the last day of spreading rough muck. We are finishing up on a grass field that we have had alot of lambs on. This will get chain harrowed when we get chance and should make it freshen up really well for flushing the later lambing ewes on. 💩

We will stop them tomorrow with a plunge dip. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was because of dirty bums etc but the buggers are on clean sheep too. 🛁🧽

A look at some of the younger cattle… doing well…

🇬🇧🥩 So yesterday was a day of sorting cattle in the rain, hungover from dodgy coke (not the rum) and running with lack of sleep. But we got through it and this morning 35 cattle went out on a wagon. 20 of these Angus have been on farm 105days, they came in as stores and have done around 2.2kg a day since they came. The heaviest will be 670kg but will average around 620kg The other 15 are odds and ends from batches. Averaging around 570kg. We try at this time of year to sell cattle and lambs alternate weeks. So next week will be lambs.🐏 (today’s load are at the end of the vid)
