Flock all sheared for this year, Nimble was the last of the girls to get naked big thanks to Chris Raven. Will be skirting and sorting the fleeces over the next week and will have some for sale suitable for felt rug making.

Just the right weather up here in the North for a bit of grass topping. Due to a reduction in flock size we have way too much grass. Will keep John busy for a while. Still waiting for our shearer, 🤞 soon.

Rural England a breath of fresh air in late spring it's green grass growning fast , brown soil of newly ploughed fields and white blossom of bird cherry and damson trees. Feel very lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful scenery .

A short video of the carding process, washed fleece is picked to open up the locks, then it goes into the carding machine, 5 workers move the fiber around the big swift onto the fancy then the doffer and off as a web onto the batting roller. The batts are 2ft wide by 6ft long approx 200 to 350 grs each. This is woollen carding the machine is over 100 years old and works by electric carefully maintain by John who is also the main pickerman 😀

After what seems like a very long winter we have come out of hybernation and started processing our carded Gotland wool these are suitable for wet felting, large woollen batts in pale grey. Have lots of washed fleece from 2025 to card before we shear next month. Will also have best Gotland ewe, Icelandic lamb and a few others for hand spinning avaliable soon.
