Wonderful guests sharing their experience of our Shepherdโs Hut ๐ค ๐ฎ ๐ ๐
The hollibobs continue...
๐ฉ Following our unexpected early Island departure, we were faced with the dilemma of where to stay for our additional night on the Mainland. We popped to Sainsburys, first, to find some snacks; brain food is most definitely required when Mainlanding.
๐ซ We were easily distracted and stood marvelling at the shelves full of fruit and veg for at least 10 minutes, before we remembered the purpose of our visit! Once normal service had resumed, self-service checkouts were conquered and, snacks in hand, we set about finding ourselves somewhere to stay.
๐ Quickly ruling out a number of options: too far away, too expensive, too many other people, no decent parking, no nice outside space, too urban...then we found this beauty.
The Shepherds Hut at Lower Trewern Farm, near Madron.
โน๏ธ Described with words such as charming, unique, peaceful, secluded, surrounded by the stunning Cornish countryside, it sounded perfect. With the added bonuses of having a sea view and mountain view (!) - curiosity piqued.
๐ On booking we immediately received a call from our host, Farmer Harry, asking how far away we were and offering to send a pin with directions. Shortly after we were heading out into the Cornish countryside, down a single track road with grass adorning its middle, like some kind of natural landing strip for aeronautical bunnies.
๐ฎ Arriving in the farm yard, Harry directed us to park behind a trailer, opposite the cow shed and we were immediately distracted by all the calves - so many tiny moos!
๐ Once he'd recaptured our attention, Harry took us out of the yard into a field and we were introduced to our home for the night. All those descriptive words mentioned previously? Delivered! Even the "mountain view" as we could see right across Mounts Bay and see St Michael's Mount(ain)! And, even better, more cows!!
๐คธโโ๏ธ Expanses of green, followed by oceans of blue. Surrounded by the Cornish countryside, we watched the moos frolicking around their field home. Tails up, heads down, prancing and jumping about like they were taking part in some kind of farm-themed gymnastics competition - hours of entertainment right outside our front door!
๐ This little hut was super cozy, even in March; we would highly recommend it. We can only imagine how awesome it would be in the summer months. It was only about a 10 minute drive from Penzance, but felt a world away. Our hosts were lovely, there was space (lots of space) and the neighbours were curious but not intrusive (although they did like head scratches).
