Sula’s Official Event Report 🐾

The day began with a serious oversight when my humans forgot to load the most important item into the van: me.

Thankfully, I had anticipated this possibility and concealed myself in the footwell until the journey was underway. I then made my grand entrance, much to everyone’s surprise and obvious relief. Although, they had forgotten key items relating to my care. My lead for starters.

Fortunately, a very kind lady stepped in and loaned us one, preventing me from becoming a free-range spaniel.

Once my owners shock had worn off, I spent the day:

🌊 Conducting sea quality inspections (excellent paddling conditions. I even got sand up my snout)

🍓 Sampling local produce (strawberries passed quality control)

🎈 Supervising Marcy on the bouncy castle (a highly unpredictable piece of equipment)

🚐 Guarding the van from suspicious activity

👀 Monitoring all arrivals, departures and snack distribution

💩 Demonstrating why biodegradable shopping bags should be considered essential event equipment 💩💩 (yes, the staff forgot to pack the poo bags too)

I also spent some time perfecting my “long-suffering working dog” expression whenever my humans appeared to be enjoying themselves without consulting me first.

Overall verdict: 10/10 day. Arbroath Market, very well done.

Would attend again.

Provided someone remembers my lead and sea poo bags next time.

We were running quite late this morning for numerous reasons for our market at Arbroath today. We’re en route now… and 10 minutes into the journey, underneath my feet in the van, something hairy and brown popped out. I started screaming, Marcy started howling with laughter and Lloyd looked perplexed.

“THERE’S A DOG IN HERE!!!!” I screamed.

Sula has clearly been in training for this very moment. A very smug little cocker spaniel looked up to say, “Oh, did you not know I was here??” I swear she smiled.

Well, I guess we’re doing a market with a dog, no lead and no poo bags. Brilliant… just brilliant.

(The van has a huge well underneath the chairs, so she’s hidden very easily and very quietly) 😆

🌱 The season is truly kicking off in the market garden, and what a sight it is. Rows upon rows of fresh growth stretching across the field, with every bed telling the story of countless hours of careful work.

Everything you see here is sown, grown and harvested by hand. No shortcuts, no chemicals — just healthy soil, hard work, and a commitment to growing food the right way. Every seed is planted by hand, every crop is carefully tended, and every w**d is removed the old-fashioned way.

It’s beautiful, rewarding, and incredibly time-consuming, but seeing the garden come alive like this makes every early morning and long day worthwhile.

We’re looking forward to the abundance that lies ahead and sharing the very best of the season with you over the coming months.

Calling anyone living in Dollar or nearby - come and find us at a new farmers market today at The Hive, Dollar, 11am-3pm!

We will have loads of fresh rare breed, Oxford Sandy and Black pork with us today. As well as steak pies, strawberries (limited quantity), charcuterie, white and black pudding, salads grown by us on our market garden and oatcakes too!

We had such a wonderful market today at Kinross! THANK YOU for so much love and support. Lloyd was at Fife Show, so we’ve had a long day.

This is probably not the evening we had in mind considering we have another market tomorrow!
