🍂 GOODBYE AUGUST… HELLO SEPTEMBER! 🍂

Well, we’re clinging on to summer for as long as we can ☀️, but there’s no denying that autumn is creeping in!

The salad is getting pushed a little further back in the fridge while the comfort food starts making its way back onto the dinner table. 😂

Our first homemade soup of the season has already been made — with plenty of our delicious Good Life bacon lardons 🥓 — and we’ve had our first proper roast dinner too. 🥕🥔

There’s something about this time of year that makes you want to get back into the kitchen and cook up something hearty, warming and comforting. Especially when you can use good, local produce that’s been grown, reared and made right here in Perthshire. ❤️

We’re still hoping for a few more sunny days, but with the leaves starting to turn and fall from the trees, it looks like autumn is ready to take centre stage. 🍁

So we want to know…

👇 WHAT’S YOUR ULTIMATE AUTUMN COMFORT FOOD? 👇

A steaming bowl of homemade soup?
A hearty stew?
A big Sunday roast?
Or something slow-cooked and delicious?

Tell us your favourite — we might even get some inspiration for the Good Life kitchen! 👩‍🍳🍂

Fae pasture tae plate, there’s nothing quite like good food made with good local produce. 🐖❤️

🎶🐷 A little music with your dinner tonight! 🐷🎶

Tonight’s ‘View from the Hatch’ at Good-Life Farming — being entertained by the pipe band before the ceilidh gets underway at the Anstruther Festival! 🎺🥁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

There’s something pretty special about serving up good food while the sounds of the pipes fill the air! ❤️

And we’re back tomorrow with more fantastic music, brilliant stallholders and, of course, plenty of delicious farm-to-plate food from us! 🍔🥓🐷

Come along, soak up the atmosphere and say hello at the hatch!

Yesterday at Kinross Market was one of those days! 😅

We spent the whole day firefighting (not literally 😂), problem-solving and trying to keep everything moving. And while that makes for a very frustrating and exhausting day, you know me… I don’t like to dwell on what happened or what could have been.

Instead, I’m choosing to concentrate on the moments that made me smile.

Big Boss Hannah and Little Boss Ailidh knew exactly what was required and quickly made their way behind the produce stall, rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in selling our delicious meat to customers. 🐖

And the lovely comments from customers about how well they did honestly made my heart burst. 🥹

They really do make me proud all the time, but particularly when they step up, get on with it and help out when it’s needed most.

So yesterday may have been challenging, but watching these two little bosses in action was definitely one of the highlights. ❤️

Top bananas, the pair of them! 🍌😂

Expectation vs Reality 😂

Today our pork Lorne sausage found itself in the ‘Ready Steady Cook’ kitchen with Nick and Jane Baxter — chef and regular Saturday Kitchen favourite.

Jane decided to make a salad using our Lorne, while the banter was flowing between her and Nick.

Then Nick was quick to point out that Lorne is typically full of rubbish and will shrink to half its size because of the fat content. 😳

Eeek. I thought… this could be a disaster if that’s what Jane was expecting!

And then… the reality crept in. 😂

Poor Jane quickly realised she was dealing with proper quality Lorne sausage, not the usual mass-produced stuff. No disappearing act, no swimming pool of fat — just beautifully seasoned, quality pork doing exactly what good Lorne should do.

After a good bit of giggling, the finished dish looked fantastic… and, more importantly, tasted absolutely delicious! 👌🐷

So, perhaps the lesson from today is:

Expectation: Lorne full of rubbish, half of it disappears in the pan.
Reality: Quality pork Lorne that actually stays on your plate! 😜

We’ll happily take that result! ❤️

Another weekend done for Team Good-Life! 🐷❤️

Another absolutely fantastic day with the ‘fae pasture tae plate’ hot food trailer! 🔥

We brought more stock, thought we had ourselves covered… and by the afternoon we were back to improvising, making things work and trying to keep up with the demand.

And then… SOLD OUT! 🤯🙌

The feedback has been absolutely incredible. Thank you to every single person who came along, supported us, told us how much you enjoyed the food, came back for more and recommended us to others. It honestly means the world to us. ❤️

Now, there was one comment about our burger being “too expensive”.

Thank you for your feedback. 😊

But here’s the thing…

We’re not offended, and we’re certainly not changing what we do. 😉

Our burgers are made with quality, farm-reared meat reared by Farmer D and brought fae pasture tae plate. We know exactly where that meat has come from and we know the quality of the product we’re putting on your plate.

And, for anyone wondering… our burger is still cheaper than the wholesale burgers being sold from other stands at events. 👀

So we’ll happily stick with our farm-reared meat, our own recipes and our own way of doing things.

Because we’re not trying to be the cheapest.

We’re trying and succeeding at being good. ❤️🐷🍔

And judging by the fact that we keep selling out… we reckon we’re doing alright. 😉

Thank you again to everyone who supported us this weekend.

Team Good-Life — fae pasture tae plate. 🐄 🐖 ❤️

A huge thank you to our friends John Anderson and Karen Harper for letting the bosses meet their beautiful yearling filly yesterday. ❤️

It was this gorgeous girl’s very first agricultural show, so there was plenty of noise, movement and excitement to take in—but she took it all in her stride and even came away with 1st place in her class! 🏆 What a superstar!

It was also great to see John in the food and drink tent with his fantastic Redcastle stand.

We were privileged to spend the last few days alongside some incredible traders. Every one of them works tirelessly producing their own amazing products, and over the years some have become so much more than fellow traders—they’ve become like extended family.

As always, there were plenty of laughs, lots of hard work, and memories made.

Until the next event, gang! 😉❤️

Unfortunately, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel both our stall and hot food trailer at West Lothian Producers Market on Saturday.

Our wonderful regular helper, Abbie, has taken unwell and needed an unexpected trip to hospital. Thankfully she’s now back home, but under strict instructions to rest. ❤️ Please join us in wishing her a speedy recovery!

We’re really sorry for any disappointment this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

📍 You can still find us this weekend:
🚜 Saturday: Braco Show
🛍️ Saturday: Blairgowrie Market
🌞 Sunday: West Lothian Producers Market

If you have an order due to be collected from us at West Lothian on Saturday, don’t worry—we’ll be in touch with you today to make alternative arrangements.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. 💚
