After the drought, nearly a month’s worth of rain fell in 24 hours! 🌊
We are very thankful for the 43mm of rain today!💧
This will help regenerate our parched grass and in a few weeks we might be self sufficient with grass again and can stop supplementary feeding all the livestock. 🌱
Also, by watching the weather forecast closely and feeling hopeful we may get rain, we drilled (planted) our winter oilseed r**e and cover crops on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The rain has reached the seeds and they are already chitting and putting down roots. The rain had reached a depth of 15cm by tonight in some places. 🪏
The graph on the last slide shows just how turbulent the rainfall has been this year (black) compared with the 5 year average in green and the 10 year average in blue. 📊

Following the recent outbreak of salmonella from imported eggs, we would like to reassure you that all of our eggs are locally sourced from Station Farm Free Range Eggs near Wellingborough who lovingly produce top quality, free range eggs and deliver to us weekly to ensure freshness.
These eggs are sold in the farm shop and are also used in the tea room across our menu from the Full English breakfast, ham, egg & chips and are even used to make our homemade quiches and cakes
