Upperton Vineyards

Upperton Vineyards Upperton Vineyards is a family owned vineyard nestled in the heart of Sussex. Producing English Spar

Established in 2005 Andy Rogers began Upperton Vineyards with 800 trial vines. These vines were comprised of three varieties initially and where intended for still wine production:

Rondo a black grape variety known for its ruby red colour and high yield. Pinot Précoce an early ripening Pinot Noir Varient and Chardonnay a world renowned white variety

Through chance encounters and numerous viney

ard visits it became clear to Andy that he should produce high quality English sparkling wine. Therefore Major plantings were undertaken in 2006, 2008 and 2010. To date there are currently 32,000 vines planted at Upperton. In 2007 Andy’s son James became vineyard manager, bringing a new impetus with his passion for integrated vineyard management and sustainability. Andy’s two daughters Heidi and Sarah have recently joined to help our visitors understand and enjoy our wines. It’s a large part of Andy’s dream to have his family work so passionately together – it’s very Upperton. Having recently been awarded silver medals in the Decanter awards for both our Aurora and Alia sparkling wines and a further silver medal for the Aurora in the IWSC, the quality of the wines we produce is increasing year on year and this year is set to be even better then the last.
