Whistle Belly Vengeance. I'm told that the beer came into existence when Adam Summerskill was at the London Inn, Ivybridge and the brewery was in an outbuilding there. Today it's a ruby coloured beer with aromas of rich dark malt and gentle hops, with dark malt and liquorice flavours. The pump clip is loved and loathed in roughly equal measure but is our most stolen. If you really like it, we have framed posters available!

For as long as I can remember, there has been confusion between Summerskills and Sutton Breweries. Maybe because they both start with the letter "S". Maybe because they're both in Plymouth and Summerskills restarted in 1990, with Sutton following a couple of years later. Summerskills beers were regular fixtures in the Thistle Park Tavern before Sutton Brewery swung into production as the Whistle Belly Vengeance plate bears witness to. More about that particular beer later....

Following on from Best Bitter came Tamar Best Bitter. Starting life as a dry hopped version of the original brew, when we produced the beer for the national JDW guest ale listing a more practical approach was to add the hops to the hop back, which is what we do today. The drawing of the bridges over the Tamar is by local artist and historian Chris Robinson. Best Bitter also appeared in several tweaked versions, reflecting Carl's association with the Sealed Knot, but the most famous was Clifton Classic, a long standing house beer for the The Clifton Inn Plymouth
