🐚 A Polperro icon you won't want to miss 🐚
If you've ever visited Polperro, chances are you've spotted the famous Shell House! One of the village's most photographed landmarks, it's certainly a property that stands out from the crowd. And it's not hard to see why it's called the Shell House 😉
But did you know the shells weren't always there? This 19th-century cottage was transformed by retired sailor Samuel Puckey, who spent five years decorating it with shells from his collection gathered from around the world, beginning in 1937. What a labour of love!
Today, it's one of Polperro's most distinctive sights and a lovely little piece of the village's history. 🐚
