Growing food is an “incredibly risky business” right now, the Public Accounts Committee heard as it examined the resilience of the UK’s food supply to disruption.

Today, 12th October, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) held an evidence session on the resilience of the UK’s food supply to disruptions. The committee’s inquiry examined the potential impact of serious disruption to our food supply chains and the country’s level of preparedness, bringing together representatives from farming, food manufacturing and retail.

Experts who attended the meeting warned the MPs that climate change and security threats leave the UK food supply at risk.

They said that the UK must move beyond prioritising efficient and low-cost food supply chains and build resilience for an era of increasing disruption.

Support urban vertical farms 💚🌱🍽🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🤞

We are one of only 60-70 field scale vegetable growers left in Ireland!

Your help could be the pivotal factor in keeping our farm and farms like ours operational. We have built our farm and business on the principle of fairness and reconnecting people with their food, and we work hard at that, we do not supply supermarkets, and so we depend on orders like yours.
