Steve explains the differences in quality, flavour and price, helping you choose the salmon that best suits your dish and budget.

We’re proud to offer our customers a choice, and our experienced fish team are always happy to explain the differences and offer honest advice.
If you see salmon being sold more cheaply elsewhere, it is often standard Norwegian salmon rather than a premium product such as Loch Duart ,so it’s always worth asking exactly what you’re buying.

Taking centre stage on our counter today is this beautiful fresh hake from Cornwall, delivered fresh this morning 👌
A firm favourite with our customers, hake has succulent white flesh and a wonderfully delicate flavour. It is incredibly versatile and delicious simply pan fried or oven roasted.Delicious when served with a creamy sauce or lemon butter. 🍋

Fancy creating your own hake dish at home? Here’s a simple lemon butter recipe for you to try …
🍋 SIMPLE PAN FRIED HAKE WITH LEMON BUTTER
1️⃣ Season the hake portions with salt and pepper.
2️⃣ Heat a little oil in a frying pan and cook for approximately 3–4 minutes on each side, depending on the thickness.
3️⃣ Add a k**b of butter, a crushed garlic clove and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
4️⃣ Spoon the lemon butter over the hake and serve with new potatoes, seasonal vegetables or a fresh salad.

Rich at the Anchor at Shapwick has been busy preparing our beautiful fresh whole mackerel as an escabeche, ready to serve today.
The mackerel are been marinating over the weekend with colourful vegetables, herbs and spices, creating a fresh and flavoursome dish.
Definitely worth a drive out to this lovely pub.🍻

🌟🐬 Happy Sunday everyone 🐬🌟
Thank you to our local fisherman for sending us this wonderful video of a pod of dolphins accompanying him on his journey out to sea a couple of weeks ago.
What a truly stunning sight and a lovely reminder of the incredible marine life found along our beautiful Dorset coastline. Despite the early mornings and demanding conditions, moments like this must make it feel as though our fishermen sometimes have the best office to work from …😄🌊🐬
