🚨 THEY’RE OFFICIALLY ON THE COUNTER! 🚨

After yesterday’s experimenting, a LOT of custard and a slight disagreement with the icing 😂… H&C’S OWN CUSTARD SLICES ARE HERE! 💛🙌🏼

And when we said we wanted to bring back a PROPER custard slice… we weren’t messing around.

JUST LOOK AT THAT CUSTARD. 👀😂

Are they factory perfect? No — because they haven’t come from a factory. ❤️

We’re not a huge bakery with a massive production kitchen and fancy machinery. We’re a little deli in Porthcawl with a small prep area, where we’re already cooking joints, making cawl, griddling Welshcakes and doing everything else that goes on behind our counter…

And now apparently we’re making custard slices too. 😂🙌🏼

They’re made, filled, iced and cut by us, right here at H&C — and we’re pretty chuffed with how they’ve turned out! ❤️

We wanted a proper, old-school, ridiculously chunky custard slice back on our counter, so we decided we’d have a go at making them ourselves.

48 are sitting on the counter this morning and now it’s over to you lot…

👰🏼‍♀️💍 AMBER’S LAST OFFICIAL SHIFT AS A MISS!!!

Naturally, we’ve made sure she’s having a completely normal and dignified final day in work… 😂👰🏼‍♀️

The veil is on, the countdown is VERY real and after today our manager is officially off to GET MARRIED! 🥹❤️

Meanwhile, because apparently we haven’t got enough going on this week…

👀 CUSTARD SLICES: ROUND TWO.

We actually attempted making our own custard slices a few months ago and got so close… but the icing absolutely defeated us. 😂

Well, this morning the pastry is out, the custard is underway and we THINK we’ve finally figured out where we were going wrong with the icing.

Whether we’ve actually cracked it remains to be seen… 😂🤞🏼

If all goes to plan, we’ll show you the finished result later today. No pressure now we’ve told Facebook. 🫠😂

🍓 SPECIALITY WELSHCAKES ARE HERE TOO!

Our freshly griddled Welshcakes, sliced and filled with our H&C conserve, are now officially available individually or in packs of 5. ❤️

We’re only making a select few each day to keep them lovely and fresh, and we’re still on Raspberry at the moment — but the flavour will be changing, so keep an eye out 👀

Basically… Amber’s in a veil, we’re fighting with custard slices and the Welshcakes have had an upgrade.

They’ll be available individually or in packs of 5, with only a select few being made each day to keep them lovely and fresh.

👀 RIGHT… WE’VE BEEN EXPERIMENTING AGAIN 😂❤️

And this time it’s…

SPECIALITY JAM WELSHCAKES 😍

We’ve been having a little play around behind the scenes and before we go any further, we want YOUR opinion 👇🏼

Our Welshcakes, sandwiched together with one of our H&C preserves/conserves 🤤

Today’s little trial is with our Raspberry Conserve and, not going to lie… it’s rather good 😂❤️

But we’re thinking of making these a little small-batch speciality with changing flavours 👀

So one day it could be Raspberry… another day Apricot… maybe something apple-based… maybe a marmalade-style one… basically whatever we think works best and tastes GOOD 😍

And because we’d only be making a limited amount each day, once that day’s flavour is gone…

IT’S GONE! 👋🏼😂
