EXCITING all be it slightly sad news coming from us today.
Over the last 18 years myself, family, friends, colleagues and volunteers alike have poured their all into Fancys Family Farm CIC. Producing a fantastic place for families and children to explore and see animals that some children will never see in their normal day to day life.
As of today we have made the extremely hard decision to permanently close the doors to Fancys Family Farm CIC.
It’s been no secret to you all that the last few years have hit us financially and physically, personally I am not getting any younger and the physical nature of keeping a community farm going is becoming too much for our ever increasing aches and pains.
BUT FEAR NOT!
The farm may be closing as you know it, but we have exciting news.
The guys at Porters farm have agreed to take over from where we have left off and create something truly special! There will be a lot of changes afoot with new animals, fresh ideas and most importantly enthusiasm and dedication to provide the local community and Portland with a venue that you all deserve!
Please support the guys in their journey because I know we all will!
So as of some time in May 2026 Porters farm will be opening on the land that Fancys Farm has used for the last 16 years and they’ll be spending the next few weeks on renovation works to get the site up to a standard that’s needed to reopen.
And just a final word from myself :
Thank you, each and every one of you for making the last 18 years such an enjoyable, ever rewarding time. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces as they walk in and see the giant portland jumping mice (wallaby’s). To watching the children laugh uncontrollably as the goats nibble their clothes.
We have helped many vulnerable people through some difficult times, in a way that only few can. That being connecting with nature, wildlife and just a good cuddle with a sheep!
Once more, thank you all for helping and supporting us over the years, we will still be on site in the background living our life in retirement.
You have been amazing
Thank you and best wishes
Su, Rachael and the Fancys Farm family.
P.S. please support the Porters and their new project, you won’t be disappointed !
