Sticky Boy is leaving home.
Albert Road has been on a steady decline for some time now. With the focus of Portsmouth City Council now solely on their money making developments in Gunwharf and Palmerston Road, there is simply no place in their grand plans for our little road and its once fantastic array of weird and wonderful shops. We have watched so many of our friends and neighbours close their doors for the last time under the weight of runaway increases in running costs, poorly managed government measures and an ever dwindling footfall. One by one, almost all of the fabulous little shops and cafe’s that welcomed us when we first opened our doors 4 years ago, have disappeared, with a seemingly endless stream of v**e shops and convenience stores taking their place. What was once a vibrant, interesting place for people to pick up some truly amazing gifts and eats, is now all but empty of visitors.
Back in October we made the decision to expand Sticky Boy and open a second retail space out of town. With Francine touring events and private functions all over the country it was the next logical step to further our reach on a more permanent basis. However, since then, and following an extensive review, this expansion has now become a simple move.
Albert Road was our first branch, where it all began, and our home, so the decision to leave has not been an easy one, but the toughest choices are often the most necessary. So, it’s “So long Southsea” and to all the thousands of customers and followers who have kept us elbow deep in sprinkles for the past 4 years, a huge thank you.
We will be announcing our new branch details in the new year, and hope to see you all there for more of the best Coffee & Donuts around, so keep following for updates and news. Until then, our Albert Road branch will open, TODAY to welcome you one last time. For all of our loyal customers, we are offering a one day only, 50% off sale on all Sticky Boy Merch, (T-Shirts, Hats and of course our SB Mugs) as a little thank you for keeping our lights on all this time. (We’re told they make excellent Christmas gifts)
