A different kind of post today... we couldn't spend time in the Champagne region without visiting Paul Launois! What a fantastic couple of hours we spent with Julien being educated in his process and the single barrel project (the same barrels that find their way to Ardnamurchan after holding his base wine for 11 months).. It was every bit as fascinating as a distillery visit ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฅƒ

Sampled an eclectic range tonight at the Golden Promise bar in La Maison du Whisky. Great that they offer a 1cl or 2cl pour as most of the drams require deep pockets! ๐Ÿฅƒ

We had a blast arranging a whisky trip to Glasgow for our friends at the North Wales Whisky Group. We started off gently on Friday evening with a visit to the SMWS followed by a slightly more hectic visit to the Pot Still. Saturday was a tour of Deanston, and a stunning Warehouse 4 tasting, where we were privileged to sample 3 new casks to the warehouse with Brian, who was also tasting them for the first time - a 14 yo finished for 7 years in a port pipe, a 17 yo finished 2 years in a Canasta butt and the star of the show for us, a 27 yo finished 5 years in a Sauternes cask! Before getting the bus back, we couldn't resist a quick stop in the Curly Coo. On Sunday morning we enjoyed an excellent tour of Clydeside with Cara, and then it was onto the Artisan in Wishaw for Sunday's highlight - a fabulous tasting with Derek along with his famous Octomore burger! Unfortunately we only managed to sample around a dozen of his 3,000+ open bottles! This morning we'd organised a private visit to The Glasgow Distillery. What can I say apart from thanks so much to Libby, Shug and Seb for such a memorable experience, from filling a cask, to coopering, to warehouse tasting! All in all I think we can confidently say that a very enjoyable time was had by all ๐Ÿฅƒ

Another cracking Independent Spirits Festival at the weekend with fabulous company and excellent drams. For us it began on Friday evening at The Diggers (photo courtesy of Hellen) where we had an impromptu meeting of Barflies! It was great to catch up with whisky friends that we've been speaking to online over the years and put faces to names! Saturday was the main event and began with a preview of the latest film from Greg Schwartz & Guy Satchwell 'Field to Glass', which was a fascinating insight into the barley growers and their relationship with the distillers (sometimes one and the same). It was followed by an entertaining Q&A with Francis Cuthbert from Daftmill and Joe Clark from Spirit of Yorkshire (Filey Bay), during which time 4 drams - 2 of each - were poured for the audience! We then had a break to grab some food, so had lunch at The Vaults with some old and new whisky friends before heading back to the theatre for the festival. This year the number of exhibitors must have almost doubled as they filled two rooms! The variety and quality of the whisky being poured all afternoon was incredible. One of the highlights was meeting the lovely Alex Bruce. A few years ago he very kindly sent us some unpeated and peated malted barley to use in our whisky tastings and we finally managed to thank him in person. I think we can safely say that the festival again exceeded our expectations and we're already looking forward to March 2027! ๐Ÿฅƒ

We had a fab night this week delivering an Introduction to Single Malt Scotch Whisky to a large group of French farmers! We anticipated some challenges, due to both the number of attendees and the language barrier, however it all went very smoothly, thanks in no small part to our two amazing translators, one of whom was a whisky enthusiast himself!๐Ÿฅƒ
Here's what Jamie-Leigh, the event organiser, had to say 'We hired JustDramming for an event where we were hosting 36 french farmers. Jan and Marc were amazing, professional and passionate from start to finish. We all had a wonderful evening.'

Fantastic whisky and hospitality at the Southport Whisky festival today, kicking of with a Thompson Bros masterclass with Jack and Kan, followed by the main event at The Grand Hotel and the onto the after party at The Guesthouse where we were entertained by a great band 'Raw Deal'. So good to catch up with whisky friends, Peter Hunt, Nicola Hunt, Alan Steen and the guys from Liverpool - till next time ๐Ÿฅƒ
