As a small local family business, we strongly believe that recommendations are the best way to spread the word about a fun family day out!
This summer we havenโt been away, but we have done PLENTY of fun days out, with and without the kids! We want to highlight all the fab places we have beenโฆ
1. Brethertonsunflowers 10/10, lovely flowers, great refreshments, really reasonably priced and you can take a picnic if youโre sticking to a budget.
2. Lakeside. We made the most of the sunshine and hired a motor boat. Took a picnic and the bikes. Kids loved it and hardly spent a penny.
3. Multiple local agricultural shows. Chipping Show and Garstang Show really are a wonderful day out. Ticket prices will often be the dearest item on the day. Just take a picnic, snacks, drinks and if youโre really on a budget, avoid the rides area. ๐คฃ
4. Cartmel Racecourse. Now this wasnโt a family day, I went for a Chipping Ladies Football reunion. However it is definitely family friendly. Cracking day out and you can take your own food and drink.
5. Lytham Festival ๐ค Again, just adults at this one (we did see plenty of kids though). Obviously not the cheapest night out, going to a concert, but as any true millennial will tell you, if Mr Worldwide is performing on your doorstep, you HAVE to go!
6. Cockerham Field Day ๐ค you canโt beat your local field day. Great to see so many local people and a tremendous effort from organisers and all those who took part.
7. ๐๐๐ซ๐ค ๐
๐๐ซ๐ฆ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ฌ๐ก๐๐ค๐ ๐ฌ๐ก๐๐๐ค๐ฎ ๐ Great milkshakes, ice creams, cake, coffee and animal trail! Plus another farming family diversification! Support them. ๐
8. Garstang fundraiser. Spent a sunny Sunday morning at Garstang rugby/cricket club. Kids loved the rides. We loved the food. โ
9. Lakeland Maze Farm Park ๐พ we actually went here in the spring, before the maize maze opened. But there was still PLENTY to do! Farm animals, outdoor play, indoor play, cafe.
10. Billy-Bob's Parlour ๐ cheap play for the kids or of you eat in the restaurant you get a free 1 hour play. Just make sure you donโt mind getting a bit of straw in your shoes. ๐คฃ
11. What feels like every park in the county! ๐คฃ this one in particular is Ribchester. But Catterall, Forton, Pilling, Kepple Lane and so many more are on our doorstep!
12. Wallings Ice Cream Farm๐ฆ I mean, if you havenโt been to Wallings you must have been living under a rock! ๐คฃ weโve had multiple visits this summer, great value, MASSIVE portions.
The key message here isโฆSUPPORT LOCAL FOLKS! ๐
When you support a local business, you are often supporting a family or an entrepreneur trying to make a living! When going to these places prices can seem high but between red tape, insurance and rising costs across the board, running a business is not an easy job these days. Most people are balancing the books whilst trying to make a living and not rip people off. Plus they often also work a lot more than the standard 40 hours a week.
If you do anything over the next few months be sure to support your local area, any contribution, big or small, is most definitely appreciated. ๐
