We are a Community Interest Company dedicated to the vision of using the outdoors as an effective means of improving the physical, mental and emotional well being of young people. Located on a working farm, we provide structured and guided learning activities in all areas of farming and animal care. The farm is situated on the edge of the Forrest of Bowland, Lancashire and covers approximately 700
acres of farmland and woodland. It produces home reared Aberdeen Angus beef, Gloucester Old Spot Pork and Bowland lamb as well as yogurt, cheese, crème fresh and ice cream. All of which, can be bought in the shop or the onsite tea rooms. In addition to mainstream schooled young people, our courses have shown to greatly benefit those experiencing social or educational exclusion, learning difficulties or mental health issues. Our provision enables young people of any ability to experience nature and farming related activities in a supportive framework that is designed to engage and inspire. By creating an environment that offers a regular routine in a non-academic and low stress situation, participants regain their self-esteem and learn social, team working and communication skills. This builds confidence in their interactions with others and in their own capabilities. In addition to the therapeutic benefits gained by young people who attend Country Life Education, we are also an Ascentis approved centre, therefore learners can achieve multiple accredited qualifications in animal care ranging from an Entry Level 2 Award to a Level 1 Certificate.
