A fresh haircut isn’t just for looks 🐑✂️

Shearing sheep is an essential part of good animal welfare. Removing heavy fleece helps keep sheep cool and comfortable, especially in warmer weather, while also reducing the risk of flystrike, skin infections, and parasites.

It also allows farmers to check their sheep more closely for any health concerns and helps the animals move around more freely and comfortably.

Healthy sheep = happy sheep 💚

A big thank you to all the farmers and shearers who work hard to care for their flocks every day.

Our outdoor reared heritage breed pigs are an important part of how we farm 🌱🐖

Not only do they live naturally outdoors, rooting and foraging as pigs should, but they also play a huge role in improving our pastures. Their natural instinct to churn and turn the soil helps us prepare the ground for reseeding diverse grass and herbal mixes.

By adding more variety into our swards, we create stronger, more resilient pastures that can better cope with our ever-changing weather — whether that’s heavy rain, dry spells, or everything in between.

And it doesn’t just benefit the land. A more diverse pasture means a richer, more varied diet for our animals too, allowing them to graze naturally and enjoy a wider range of plants.

Healthy soil → healthy grass → healthy animals 🌿

That’s farming with nature, not against it.

Spring calving season is coming to an end, and what a rewarding few months it has been 🌱🐄

There’s nothing better than seeing the next generation out in the fields — healthy calves, attentive mothers, and cattle thriving on fresh spring grass. Every calf on the ground is the result of years of careful breeding, selecting for strong maternal traits, hardiness, temperament, and animals that truly suit our grass-fed system.

We believe the best cattle start with the best mothers, and it’s always special to watch those genetics coming through in the next generation.

Here’s to strong calves, happy cows, and another season built on good grass and good breeding. 🌿
