MID SEASON AND MID SUMMER

Feels like just yesterday we were out lighting bonfires at night fighting the late spring frosts. One heatwave later and here we are, stripping leaves and starting to think about the end goal: Harvest.

It's fiddly work and, like a lot of wine things at Kinsbrook, we do it by hand, in house.

Once the leaves come off, we can make better guesses on the yield and fruit clusters. The overall growing environment improves too and becomes less susceptible to disease. Less shade means more direct light and heat to the berries, and better airflow keeps the vines healthier. Too much leafy growth traps moisture around the fruit, and with more sun reaching the grapes, they can get on with building that lovely sugar and flavour.

Big thanks to our vineyard team for putting the hours in, and tending the vines to get the best out of this amazing heatwave vintage. It's slow, unglamorous work done in the summer heat, and it makes a real difference later in the year. Farmer’s tans forever.

We're getting close to veraison now, with some of the Pinot clusters already starting to turn. Next up: watching those clusters ripen and planning our picking windows.

If you're out there doing the same thing right now: tunes turned up, factor 50 applied, caps donned and shades on.

From the ground up 🌿

FATHER'S DAY AT KINSBROOK

A Father's Day with wall-to-wall sunshine? We'll believe it when we see it, but the forecast is looking rather promising.

This Sunday, the pizzas will be firing from midday until 4pm, the beers will be flowing on The Patio from midday until close, and Hannah Dorman will be providing the soundtrack with live music throughout the afternoon.

For the dads who are always keen to know a little more about what's happening in the vineyard, there are still a few spaces left on our 11am public tour and tasting. It's a chance to discover how our wines are made, explore the vineyard and get answers to all those burning questions. Spaces are limited, so we'd recommend booking while you can.

If you're still searching for a Father's Day gift, the shop is looking particularly well-stocked at the moment. We've got plenty of new arrivals, 15% off when you buy six bottles or more, and for those fathers who have truly excelled themselves this year, there's always a magnum. Nothing says "thanks for everything" quite like a very large bottle of wine.

Of course, Father's Day celebrations don't have to wait until Sunday. If you're planning an early toast on Saturday, we'd be delighted to help with that too.

And while we're talking about dates for the diary, a little reminder that our Summer Festival is now less than two weeks away. On 27th and 28th June, the vineyard will be filled with live music, great food, wine, family activities, bubble football, axe throwing, a silent disco and plenty more besides.

Whether you're joining us this weekend for Father's Day or later this month for the festival, it's shaping up to be a very good couple of weeks at Kinsbrook.

T-2 WEEKS UNTIL THE SUMMER FESTIVAL 2026 ā˜€ļø

We’re just two weeks away from Kinsbrook’s Summer Festival 2026 and we’re gearing up for an incredible weekend.

Landing rather nicely on the final weekend of English Wine Week, across June 27th and 28th, we’ll be celebrating the best way we know how: two days of live music, wine, food, fun activities and very relaxed, family-friendly summer vibes, all a few steps away from where what’s in your glass was grown.

Joining us across the weekend will be Camkahla, Django Chutney, DJ McThickum, Very Tiny Toads, Sametime, Sistie Moose, AJ Wander, France You're On Your Own and Bea Maher, with the full lineup and timings available now on our website.

There will also be an exclusive, ticketed wine masterclass running in the Farmhouse restaurant, available as an add-on after you have purchased entry. Food-wise, expect plenty of good things coming out of the Kinsbrook kitchen this year, with pizzas, tacos and festival favourites, alongside some of our favourite food trucks: Happy Go Souvlaki, The Filled Churros and Manjula Vegan all weekend long.

For the tiny ones, we’ll have a covered soft play area. For the little ones, there’ll be a bouncy castle. And for the adults there’ll be bubble football, axe throwing and a silent disco. There’ll also be tarot reading from the lovely Catherine Gallagher, Bearded Axe Bros will be joining us, and Kook Collective will be hosting a festival headwear workshop.

It’s going to be a very, very good weekend.

Grab your tickets now via our website or the link in bio, and come celebrate English Wine Week with us.

THE PATIO IS OPENING THIS WEEKEND šŸ•

The Patio is back in business, and so are pizzas.

From this weekend onwards, we’ll be serving homemade pizzas every Saturday from 12pm to 7pm and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm, straight from the ovens. The kitchen team has been workshopping and testing out a new menu and we can’t wait to share it you (ā€˜Nduja, anyone?)

The Pink Bar is open from midday until close every weekend, pouring wines, chilled lagers and whatever else takes your fancy. And yes, Kinsbrook lagers in the garden are back, baby.

No bookings or plans required. Just pop in, find a spot on the patio, and settle in for an afternoon of good food, good wine and a bit of Sussex sunshine (we’ll do our best with that last one). In the eventuality of rain, there’s plenty of covered seating too.

We can’t wait to see you.

THE MARKET GARDEN PROJECT

Many of you will know it’s been a long held desire of ours to set up market gardens at the vineyard where we could grow a variety of delights for the kitchen, allowing seasonality and the highest quality produce to guide the menu design.

Although we’ve dabbled with smaller raised beds in previous years, this year we have set up 8 garden beds solely designed to grow produce for our chefs to work with.

Today was an exciting day as we harvested mustard greens and radishes by the armful for the very first time.

On the walk back to the farmhouse we spotted self-seeded nasturtiums appearing through gaps in the woodwork, entirely on their own terms - a beautiful reminder of what is really in charge here.

This is just the start of our commitment to growing more of our produce here onsite - in the interests of sustainability but also flavour, quality and creativity.

Keep your eyes peeled for our garden’s bounties featuring on the restaurant menu this summer.

Half term is here and our Summer Season has officially begun at Kinsbrook. The parasols are up, the wine is cold and the bifolds are permanently open.

A few little updates from us this week:

- Ice creams are available every day from the deli (and the raspberry pavlova situation is pretty unreal).
- The bees are thriving in this sunshine and are being tentatively cared for by The Bee Butler.
- In the gardens, our mustard leaves are looking handsome and nearly ready for harvest. They’ll be on the restaurant menu very soon.
- We’re dusting off the pizza ovens after the winter months and testing a few ideas ahead of the Pink Bar opening next weekend.
- The original Kinsbrook horsebox is currently receiving some TLC and a lick of paint.
- Our final Sunday Roasts of the season are happening this weekend; there are only a handful of tables left if you fancy one last Yorkshire pudding before summer fully takes over.

We hope you’re all making the most of the sunshine and enjoying a lovely half term. If you’re nearby, pop by for a glass of wine or an ice cream.

Much love, everyone.
