Little Burdon Farm

Fantastic news from Ireland for one of our bulls Burdon Skyfall. Many congratulations to all at Natures Nosh for their great achievement.

Last Saturday we attended the NI Dexter Cattle group herd walk hosted by Ryan Lavery at Derryola Dexters. Hats off to Ryan…Some top quality stock on show 👌🏻
The visit also included the herd judging results and we were delighted to be heading up the road with a few rosettes too. 🐃

🥇- Best Bull (Small herd)
🥈 - Group of calves (Small herd)

Thanks to Linda McKendrick for taking the time to call with us and chatting about all things Dexter cattle.

I thought it was only right that I presented “Hero” with his award…He hadn’t much to say…I think he was just lost for words 😂

A morning of mixed emotions today. Eccle and Artimus left us for their new homes. They were born on the same day and just happened to leave us on the same day too. Eccle has been a pleasure to bring up. Artimus though, well he's been rather special and continues to be so. Such a placid easy going well put together bull that caught the eye of every judge he went under. Consistently beating older bulls in competition. And never bringing less than a second place home. Most recently rare breed champion at Frome show. We're really going to miss him. We wish them both the best of luck and their new owners every success with them. And look forward to keeping up to date with them throughout their lives.

Well showing 2026 that's a wrap! And what a last show it was at Frome. A fantastic way to end the season with Croft Doon winning her class and going on to win reserve champion
Burdon Artimus winning his class and going on to pip his mum in the championship and taking the champion position. Over the moon with the results. Riggit Galloway Cattle Society

Our penultimate show of the year at Dorset County show and Doon pulls it out of the bag, better late than never. Excellent classes of native rare and minority cattle.
Croft Doon placed 1st in cow in calf class and on to win champion.
Burdon Artimus placed 2nd in bull any age class.
So pleased with them both and looking forward to our last show of the year next week at Frome.

Melplash show yesterday, and we managed to dodge the rain on show day!
Burdon Artimus and Croft Doon both second place in their respective classes and first place together in pairs.

Brilliant, enjoyable 2 days at Gillingham and Shaftesbury show.
Mixed rare and minority classes.
Doon placed 2nd cow in calf/milk
Artimus placed 1st bull any age class.
3rd place in pairs.
At 11 and a half months old Artimus was placed 1st above a 2 and a half year old Hereford bull, much to the Hereford bulls displeasure as can be seen in the photo! 😆

Ooh we're famous!

Our first time at Mid Devon show on Saturday. Great day with great friends. Artimus held his own in an any age native bull class coming third to a mature Beef shorthorn and a mature Highland. Still really good for an 11 month old bull. Doon still isn't on her game this season, tough class with some very large beef animals for competition much older than her. Together they were placed 2nd in the pair class.
