Rushall Organic farm

Rushall Organic farm Rushall Farm is set in the beautiful Pang Valley part of the North Wessex Downs AONB. It is close to both Newbury & Reading and only 10 minutes from the M4.

As well as having a modern working farm there is also an education centre (Rushall Manor Farm) which incorporates indoor lunching facilities. There are hand washing & toilet facilities at both the farm and education centre and disabled toilets at the education centre as well as good disabled access at both sites. Rushall farm is an excellent place to learn about many aspects of the curriculum. We

are a mixed organic farm which primarily runs a large sheep flock and a herd of beef suckler cows as well as growing cereal & other crops. We also have chickens, two donkeys and some pigs as well as tractors that the students have access to. There is also a pond, woodland & grassland as well as access to the River Pang so we are about to focus on habitats & river studies as well as farming.

Keeping cool on river visits. Many great finds today and some super species ID.

The year 8s at Rushall today were fantastic! Lots of drink breaks, shade and spray bottle mists. One even declared they were freezing in the river!

A great day of fieldwork but now for a day or two of respite before the temperature drops a little ๐Ÿฅต

It's the 'wow look at this' moments that really make the week. Beautiful feathers spotted on a woodland walk with a group this week.

It has been fantastic to be able to explore the full extent of the site at Rushall and beyond with the farm, woodlands and river Pang on visits through the summer. What a privilege to share with groups throughout the term โค๏ธ

A great few days collecting data in the river. Lovely feedback and a pleasure to host as always ๐Ÿ˜Š

A week of creativity so far with our regular groups โ˜บ๏ธ

Use of charcoal from the previous week's camp fires to create portraits with some adding a little extra nature to enhance their drawings.

Yesterday was a day of bugs and bees. We enjoyed taking a look at the honey bees in the observation hive and spotting the Queen before constructing a new bug hotel close to our Oaklands building. Incredible team work and a 5* result โค๏ธ
