When is a cake not a cake ??? When it’s a Wilfra cake!! This is a traditional apple and Wensleydale cheese tarts made in honour of St Wilfrid. St Wilfrid built the cathedral in Ripon in the 7th Century. Every year, during the first week in August, the local townspeople traditionally made Wilfra tarts and leave them on windowsills for passers-by to enjoy. Also a treat if you were in the work house !!! These ones will be available at The Portly Pig 🐷
