We will have some hogget meat available in the coming weeks.

But what is hogget? I’m glad you asked. It’s a sheep between 1 & 2 years of age. Hogget meat has the tenderness of a young animal with a much richer, deeper, and more developed flavor, making it a highly sought-after alternative to standard lamb.

This will be the last meat we have available until the end of the year so if you’d like to get your hands on some please drop us a message.

Like everything, the production costs have increased since our last batch of meat boxes, abattoir and butcher costs have both increased so we’ve had to increase our prices. They are still super competitive as we want to make our meat available for as many people as we can.

This is by far my favourite lamb recipe. Probably one of my favourite recipes of all time.

I served mine with beef tallow roasted potatoes, honey roasted carrots & parsnips and purple sprouting broccoli. It was divine.

Lambing is still a few weeks off but the early mornings have already started; we’re up at sunrise to check the girls, then again at sunset.
Dawn and dusk tend to be when the sheep will lamb, when you lamb outside like we do. It’s also when there tend to be the problems, if you’re going to get them, on the run up to lambing. So we’re checking the girls at 12 hour intervals and as we creep nearer to their due dates we’ll be upping this to checks throughout the day as well.
It’s tiring but helps get the body clock ready for the early starts that come with lambing and the extra bonus is the getting our little corner of the world to yourself for a while whilst almost everyone else is still tucked up in bed!
Plus the sunrises aren’t bad!
