A determined performance from the Parish 1st XI on the road as they battled all the way against a strong Wickersley Old Village CC 1st XI side in this weekend's Premier Division fixture.

After being asked to field first, Parish were faced with a challenging total of 327. Despite the pressure, there were some encouraging performances with the ball. Tom Bolland led the attack with two wickets, while Joe Norbury, Bhargavkumar Merai, Mark Cummins and Kazim Hassan all chipped in with a wicket apiece. Kazim was particularly economical, conceding just 29 runs from his 10 overs while also bowling two maidens.

Chasing a demanding target, Parish responded positively with several batters getting starts. Bhargavkumar Merai continued his excellent season with a well-crafted 61, James Butler narrowly missed out on a half-century with 49, and Joe Norbury added a composed 38. Daniel Kemp (28) and Mark Cummins (26) kept the scoreboard moving before Brady Saunders and Tom Bolland provided some late impetus as Parish closed on 241-8 from their 50 overs.

While the result didn't go the Parish's way, there were plenty of encouraging signs with the bat as the side continued to compete right to the final ball.
