Burnside Dexter Cattle Established in 1986 Burnside Dexters is one of the oldest herds of Dexter cattle in Scotland. Dexter beef is now recognised to be of exceptional quality.

Burnside Dexters is a true breeding herd of the smallest breed of British cattle. We produce breeding stock for sale from time to time, and a small amount of Dexter beef. Our beef is reared very naturally, we use no fertiliser and no concentrate feeding, this is serious grass fed beef. The cows and calves outwinter in our wet but mild climate on Bute, with the calves only housed for a few weeks at

weaning to allow careful handling, thus ensuring a quiet easy to handle herd. Contact us by email for details of availability.

The Burnside herd was vaccinated for Bluetongue yesterday, half of those who were vaccinated last year had a booster, the other half will get a booster in 3 weeks when those getting their fist dose yesterday will have their second dose. They were all dosed with triclabendazole for liver fluke and young stock had an injection of Dectomax. A busy session, thanks to Caitrìona Nic An T-saoir for her help.

One week to go! At Bute Highland Games on Saturday 22nd August I will run the 10K road race and will be pleased to have any sponsorship donatios sent to my JustGiving page. Prostate Cancer UK is a major force in improving treatment and detection of this all too common cancer in men. I hope to increase awareness and encourage men to ask for testing as there is no screening programme. ASK YOUR DOCTOR FOR PSA TESTING. Not perfect but it pointed me to investigation and succssful treatment.
