As September gets underway, we felt it was only right to take a moment to say a massive thank you.

To all the events, singers, bands, pop-ups, Friday night pizza nights, birthday celebrations, wedding parties, and every other wonderful occasion we’ve had the pleasure of being part of - thank you.

To our amazing staff, for all their hard work, energy and commitment 💫

And most importantly, to you. 🫶

Thank you for choosing to spend your nights with us, supporting us, and being part of Bute Yard as we continue to grow, learn and find our feet in this fast-paced little community space we’re so lucky to be a part of.

For every bottle bought, beer ordered, event attended, recommendation made and online review left - we genuinely couldn’t do it without you.

And as we head into the colder months, we’re certainly not slowing down! ❄️ We’ve got plenty of exciting events, live music, food nights and special evenings planned for you to enjoy throughout autumn and winter.

That’s why our gins come in three different sizes - because there’s a bottle for every occasion!

Today we’re shining a little light on our 20cl bottles, beautifully presented in their own tubes. They’re perfect for gifting, taking to a weekend away, or simply treating yourself. 🎁

With around 8 measures in each bottle, they’re the perfect travel-sized gin, small enough to take with you, but definitely big enough to share… if you’re feeling generous!

A firm favourite with our bar team - and definitely one to add to your list next time you’re at the bar! 🍊

Made with fresh oranges and lemons, then rested with a chunk of whisky barrel oak to give it that subtle smoky, oaked finish.

It’s beautifully smooth, citrusy and absolutely delicious served with a fresh orange wheel. 🍊✨

Added to our distillation to create that savoury, citrus award-winning gin.

The lemons 🍋 limes 🍋‍🟩 and cucumbers 🥒 balance great with that maritime flavour from the shell for that seaside vibe we want from our Oyster Gin.

Paired perfect with fresh chilli and ginger, a caper or slices of cucumber.

Take one look at our shelves and you’ll see we’ve never been shy of a bit of colour.

But this weekend, the rainbow means a little more.

We’re incredibly proud to see Bute Pride return to Bute Yard, bringing our wee island together for a weekend of colour, celebration and community.

For a little island, we have a lot to be proud of. Most of all, the people who make Bute the welcoming, brilliant place it is.

LET’S TALK STILLS 👩‍🔬

Meet Audrey - our 200L handcrafted copper still, which made the journey all the way from Portugal back in 2019 when Isle of Bute Distillery was first established.

Named after the iconic Audrey Hepburn, she’s been at the heart of everything we’ve created. Every distillation produces enough spirit for around 700 bottles of gin, and during our busiest months she’s hard at work up to twice a week.

💡 Fun fact: We originally traded as Isle of Bute Gin Distillery. When we began producing our award-winning Dead Run Rum, our name evolved to Isle of Bute Distillery - but every drop is still distilled in the very same copper still.

If you’re visiting Bute Yard, keep an eye out for Audrey through the glass panels beside the snug and catch a glimpse of where the magic happens.

Why Heather? Why Gorse? 🌼 🪻

We didn't choose these botanicals by chance.

Every gin we make is inspired by the Isle of Bute and the landscape we call home.

Thanks to the Gulf Stream, Bute is home to one of Scotland's richest horticultural landscapes. From the vibrant yellow gorse that blankets our hillsides to the purple heather that colours the island later in the year, nature has always been our greatest inspiration.

That's why we created Gorse Gin and Heather Gin - two gins that capture the colours, character and flavours of the island.

Because we don't just make gin on Bute.

We make gin that tastes of Bute.

There’s definitely a little more science 👩‍🔬 behind the magic but swipe to see the stages of adding the botanicals in, which are what creates that perfectly floral and citrus pink gin.

Made with hand picked Scottish heather from the island.
