With temperatures forecast to reach around 32°C tomorrow, we're encouraging everyone visiting Royston Market this week to take extra care in the heat.

💧 Bring a water bottle
🕶️ Wear a hat and sunscreen
🌳 Take regular breaks in the shade

Our wonderful traders will be out as usual on Market Place this Wednesday and Saturday, so if you're visiting, please remember to stay hydrated and look after yourself in the sunshine.

The Met Office has issued an Amber Extreme Heat Warning for Thursday across parts of eastern England, including Hertfordshire. Temperatures in Royston are forecast to reach around 32°C on Wednesday, 35°C on Thursday, and remain very warm at around 29°C on Friday before cooler conditions arrive later in the week.

Hot weather can affect anyone, but older people, young children and those with underlying health conditions may be particularly vulnerable.

Please remember to:

🧢 Wear light clothing, a hat and sunscreen
🌳 Stay in the shade during the hottest part of the day
🏃 Avoid strenuous outdoor activity where possible
🏠 Keep homes cool by closing curtains and blinds during the day
🤝 Check in on friends and relatives who may need extra support

The combination of high temperatures and very dry conditions also increases the risk of fires in parks, heathland and the countryside, so please take extra care when outdoors.
