Spring Equinox ~ Low Tide

Wet, long winters make way for a bright and spirited springtime. Today we celebrate the Spring equinox and the first day of spring, when both day and night are equal in length. The season of rebirth, renewal, nature blooms, and golden light.

Spring tides occur every month, but March's equinox marks the largest low tides; the inspiration to our mindful Mermaid moments.

World Seagrass Day ~ Underwater Meadows

The unsung hero of our seas, seagrass holds an important role in the future of our oceans, keeping them clean and aiding in our fight against climate change. Also home to an abundance of wildlife, we’re giving our seagrass meadows a voice and supporting local charities to restore them to their historical levels.

Working with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and Project Seagrass our team help to monitor and restore the local seagrass meadows surrounding our distillery. Rising early with the sun and racing the tides, 2025 was a record year for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust seagrass restoration and today we raise a glass to all those involved.

Savour the low tide this Dry January with our low-alcohol cocktail inspiration. Mindfully crafted to deliver Mermaid’s distinct taste with a refreshingly light touch. If you’re practising mindful drinking this month, we’ll be sharing our ‘low tide’ recipes to try with Mermaid, starting with Pickle Daze - 3.2% abv.

Discover the bright and breezy serve, crafted for enjoying a lighter Mermaid moment. Simply add 15ml Mermaid Gin, 50ml watermelon juice, 10ml pickle brine, and 15ml lime juice into an ice-filled shaker. Shake and strain into an ice-filled glass. Top with cucumber tonic water and stir.
