Victoria visited Jerez in Andalucia last week on an educational Sherry group tour.

Historic Bodegas such as Bodegas Fernando de Castilla showed the UK wine professionals around the chalky white Albariza soil vineyards growing Palomino grapes and explained the unique wine making methods using flor yeast and the solera system.

Penny visited in the Valpolicella Classico region near Verona in April. Here she is in their organically farmed Sant’Urbano vineyard which produces the fruit for their Amarone Della Valpolicella.

🍷 Speri Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Sant’Urbano 2020 🍷

Tasting note:
Beautiful garnet red colour. Fresh cherry and dried cranberry nose with a concentrated palate of sweet spice, dried dark fruit, coffee and raisins. A long and elegant finish.

ABV: 15%

Grapes: Molinara: 5%
Rondinella: 25%
Corvinone: 35%
Corvina: 35%

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Sant’Urbano is produced from grapes grown on the Sant’Urbano hillside vineyard. The grapes are hand-selected, dried for 110 days, and then macerated for 28 days. The wine is aged in French and Slavonian oak barrels before bottle refinement.
