The joys of the haulage industry.

You think you have your day planned out. Where you're going to have your breaks, what time you will get to your rendezvous point for a trailer swap & when you are going to get parked 🅿️ up for the night 💤

Then as you're motoring 🚛 along, all the plans in your head ready to action the phone 📱 rings.
Instead of meeting a driver at Avonmouth could you bring the load all the way down, your other trailer is here to swap. Then head back up as far as you can for tomorrow.

735kms & 9½ hours driving later, I am parked up for the night at the original meeting point for my trailer swap.

Evening me ansums 👋🏻.

Well yesterday didn't end up being as long as expected 🤙🏻.
After loading out of Spalding, I was asked to run down to Evesham & meet one of our night drivers for a trailer swap.
He ran my load down to Cornwall & I took his empty to a RDC in Bristol & parked up for the night at 1.05.

9 hours off 💤 .........

Collected a store load this morning, took that down to Bridgwater where I met one of our day drivers for another trailer swap. He took on the Devon store delivery & I am now tipping this frozen 🥶 load of salmon 🐟 fillets at an internet food distribution hub in Derby.

Then it's up to the Liverpool area to park up for the night ready for a load out tomorrow at 13.00

Hope you're enjoying the

Well after my late start last night & having to wait an additional 1½ hours at a loading point I eventually got onto the A30 at around 2300.
One bonus was the roads 🛣️ were quiet.

After being up at 8.00 in the morning, having a busy day & a later start, I made the decision to head up to my 1st customer & park up to get some sleep 💤.
There is only so much the body can take and being in charge of a 44ton vehicle, nodding dog 🐕 syndrome is not welcome.
So I pulled up at 4.45am & called it a night 🌃.
9 hours off & into my customer for delivery only to be told I had to wait for a bay.

Bit of a day ahead for me with deliveries in Milton Keynes, Brinklow & Nottingham. Once empty it's over to Spalding for my reload & then make my way back to the Duchy.
Let's hope the bank holiday traffic is kind.

Locked 🔒 in & ready for unloading.
Definitely makes sure that you can't drive off on a red light, the fact they also have your keys🗝️ is by the by 😂
But who knows where I am?

HGV fire on the M6 South.
Just before J9, queuing back to the M54 junction (10a).
Fire brigade in attendance & other emergency services heading toward the scene.
The outside lane currently remains open to allow traffic through.
Hope the driver got out ok 🤞🏻

That's me on the bay at a supermarket production site in Bradford.
Delivering 49 dolavs of gammon 🐽 bombs💣. Which will be sliced up into bacon lardons, sliced meats and other pork related chilled meat products. Ready to stock up the shelves for consumers.

There aren't many perks to be a hgv long distance driver but occasionally you do get a little bonus of some sort.

After running up from Cornwall last, tipping at customers in Leyland & finishing at a scone manufacturer in Barnsley. One of those lintel bonuses appeared.
They have obviously got to know me, so now when I go there I nearly always come away with a couple packets of scones.
Last night I was given 3 packets of fruit ones. All I have to do now is stop 🛑 off a a shop and pick up some jam & cream 🍦.
NO! I am not going to get into & argument about it and anybody who disagrees is obviously wrong!!! 😂😂.

Morning me ansums 👋🏻

Well yesterday went better than expected.
Apart from the normal hold ups on the M61 and then further down where the M6 🛣️ & M5 🛣️ meet the run down from Manchester was almost pain free 🆓 👍🏻

I made it back to the yard with about an 1¼ driving time left & under my 13 hours.

I even had time to give DAFne a bath before heading home for my rest days.
