Cinderhill Farm

Cinderhill Farm On the edge of the forest, in a fold in the hill, high above the river Wye and at the foot of an ancient castle: there you will find Cinderhill Farm.
(1)

Here the animals have green grass under their feet and the open sky above them with cosy shelters to rest in and fresh, running water to drink. There's space for them to run and jump and play, and they have learned to trust people, to enjoy having their tummies tickled and heads stroked. Buzzards fly overhead and deer (black and red fallow deer) visit the ponds , springs and stream most nights. Th

e fields are rich with meadow grasses and wild flowers. History pops up daily in the soil in the form of iron smelt. There are views across the valley to Wales, and mile upon mile of forest stretching as far as the eye can see. And a little house, which we call home.

Well, we won’t pretend that it didn’t hurt 😆

The 21 miles sponsored walk turned out to be a 23 miler, as it included an invigorating exploration of an unknown fell-side, and an inspection of a new housing estate …. Both of which added a little thrill of danger from the unknown to what was otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable walk!

Kudos to the teams at Tebay Services, Rheged and Growing Well for all the wonderful food, warm welcome and encouragement. £35,000 has been raised for this great mental health organisation.

Thank you so much for your support for both Craig Coborn and myself! It makes this morning’s aching muscles worth every twinge 🤗

Finally: Pippin was sooooo proud to get a finisher’s medal too!

Excited to be packing our bags and planning our route up now. It’s very close!

Photos will follow on the day as we walk from Tebay to Rheged across moors and fells we believe 🤗

Please do add your gift using the link below - every little bit helps!

We ‘enjoyed’ all 4 seasons on the farm in one day today. Amazing how the delicate ‘milkmaid’ or ‘cuckoo -plant’ wild flowers can survive visious hail as well as hot sunshine.
