Friday night.
Long week.
Someone's kitchen light still on at half past ten.
The bloke in there has been on his feet since lunchtime.
He's chopping onions.
Wrapping kebabs.
Shouting "Two chicken shish!"
Trying to remember if table four wanted garlic sauce or chilli.
You tap your phone.
Forty quid disappears.
You get your dinner.
He gets... whatever's left after everyone else has had a nibble.
Funny old game, isn't it?
..
Walk down your high street tomorrow morning.
Really look.
The café with the wonky chalkboard.
The florist that somehow smells like your nan's house.
The curry house that's been there longer than most marriages.
The barber who knows exactly how you like it without asking.
The bakery that starts work while you're still dreaming.
Every one of them bets everything on this town.
Not New York.
Not California.
Not some shiny office where people argue about "customer acquisition costs" over artisan coffee.
Here.
On these streets.
They open the shutters.
They switch on the lights.
They smile at strangers.
They graft.
Every.
Single.
Day.
..
Now imagine this.
Every time you spend twenty quid in your own town...
Someone takes a slice.
Then someone else takes a slice.
Then another pair of polished shoes takes another slice.
By the time your fish and chips land on the counter...
Your twenty quid looks like it's been attacked by a pack of hungry seagulls.
Everyone's had a peck.
Except the people who actually cooked your tea.
F**k that.
..
We had a daft idea.
What if we just...
..didn't?
What if the restaurant charged what the restaurant wanted to charge?
Mental.
What if the driver kept the delivery money because, you know...
..they did the bloody driving?
Even madder.
What if the people running the app stopped trying to squeeze every last penny out of everybody and were happy just keeping the lights on?
Now we're clearly talking nonsense.
..
That's NoshRocket.
Not because we're saints.
Not because we're clever.
Because it just feels right.
The restaurant earns the restaurant's money.
The driver earns the driver's money.
We keep enough to keep the wheels turning.
Then we get out of the way.
Simple.
..
One day...
Maybe you'll order a pizza.
Next week it'll be flowers for your mum.
Dog food because you forgot.
A birthday cake.
A bottle of milk.
Your shopping.
Whatever.
It doesn't really matter.
Because this was never about pizza.
Or burgers.
Or kebabs.
It's about opening your phone and knowing the money you're spending is still wandering around the same streets you do.
Buying another loaf.
Paying another wage.
Keeping another shop alive.
Helping another family pay their bills.
Money should wander.
Just not too far from home.
..
We don't have shareholders waiting for bigger dividends.
We have neighbours.
We don't have venture capital.
We have local cafés.
We don't have quarterly growth targets.
We have a town we'd quite like to leave a bit better than we found it.
..
So if you want another app...
There are loads.
Knock yourself out.
But if you'd quite like your Friday-night kebab to do a little more than fill your stomach...
Welcome aboard.
NoshRocket.
Built here.
For here.
And if we do our job properly...
It'll never really feel like our company.
It'll feel like yours.
