Half of the hens are laying now and we're getting beautiful, delicious eggs. More visitors to the garden - another little flock of partridge and a mallard drake. One day (hopefully not many years from nowπŸ˜…) I'll finish the main coop so we can get some more chickens and we'll have fresh eggs for sale

60-odd plugs planted on this weekend - flowers, a few chilli's grown from seed, and a lot of lavender which will be the new edging plant for a bed I'd like to put in along the front of the barn. The kids enjoyed getting their hands muddy (and making mud castles) and the garden is looking beautiful with blossom providing some much needed colour.

We are now the proud owners of 8 (not 6 🀭) chickens! They have started to settle into their temporary home in the kennels while we continue to work on the main build. We ended up with two surprise additions - a white silkie for our daughter who has asked non-stop for one since we started talking about chickens, and a beautiful Marigold who caught my son's eye while we were at Burcombe’s Poultry. Great selection - we'll be back!

Breeds:
πŸ” Silkie
πŸ” Marigold
πŸ” Rhode rocks
πŸ” White star
πŸ” Legbar
πŸ” Wellsummer
πŸ” Comet
πŸ” Olive egger
