WINE MAKER’S DINNER 🍷🔥

Last year was a complete sell-out — and if the feedback was anything to go by, it was one very special night.

Think long wooden tables, candlelight, incredible wine, brilliant people and exceptional fire-cooked food from Alex Kimber and the team.

Wine makers Danielle Marais, Duncan Pilbeam & Joe Cabell from Babylonstoren will take you through five exceptional wines, pairing each one with a course and sharing the stories behind the bottles.

If you’re new here, welcome to Braai ☀️

We’re a fire-led restaurant set in the heart of Nunwell, built around one simple idea — cooking over open flame, with great ingredients, in a way that feels honest, generous, and a little bit special.

Everything we do is centred around the fire. It’s where the flavour comes from, where the energy of the kitchen lives, and where our young team learn, grow, and bring real passion to every service. There’s no hiding behind it — just skill, care, and a lot of hard work on the pass.

We’re incredibly busy again this weekend, but we’ve had a handful of last-minute cancellations — which means a few tables have just opened up this evening (Thursday) and tomorrow evening (Friday).

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, this is your moment.

Over the past few weeks, guests have told us it’s one of the most memorable meals they’ve had in a long time — not just for the food, but for the atmosphere, the energy, and the feeling of being part of something happening right in front of you.

If evenings don’t work, we also have Sunday lunchtime availability, so there’s still a chance to make a weekend of it at Nunwell.

Tables are limited and won’t hang around for long — booking is recommended.

A little pinch-me moment from last week…

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming Jamie Oliver, Jimmy Doherty and friends to Braai.

It was a real privilege to have them experience what we’ve been building here over the summer.

What makes this even more special is that Braai is only possible because of an incredible young team who pour everything they have into creating an unforgettable experience. The long days, the attention to detail, the pride they take in every plate that leaves the kitchen, every drink that’s served, and looking after every guest who walks through the door to the absolute best of our ability - it’s all down to them.

To have people we admire in the food industry enjoy what we’ve created is a huge compliment to every single member of the team.

We’re incredibly proud of what this little group of hardworking, passionate people has achieved in such a short space of time, and this feels like a lovely reminder that hard work, genuine hospitality and great food never go unnoticed.

Thank you to Jamie, Jimmy and everyone who joined us. It was a pleasure to have you.

The response we had last weekend to the food, the place and the atmosphere was honestly mind-blowing. ❤️🔥

We’re so excited to do it all again this weekend.

Every evening is now almost completely fully booked, but we still have a few lunchtime tables available on Saturday and Sunday.

☀️ Sunshine, slow lunches and live fire cooking… ☀️

If you’ve been thinking about visiting Braai, this weekend’s lunchtimes are looking absolutely perfect.

Grab a table in the sunshine, bring the kids, round up a few friends, or if you’re nearby, stroll over and treat yourself to a long, lazy lunch. Enjoy a couple of cold beers or share a bottle of rosé while we cook over the fire.

Think local meat, proper seasonal vegetables, real ingredients and food that’s made to be enjoyed slowly.

Our evenings are almost fully booked, but we’ve still got plenty of lunchtime availability this weekend.
