The clubhouse has had a makeover and is World Cup ready 🤩🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

There’s still space to book in for dinner and a few drinks before kickoff and there’s free homemade pies and beans at halftime to keep you going into the night 😋

We will also be offering our menu for takeaway if you would rather call ahead and collect your dinner before enjoying the football at home.

The food will be good and the drinks cold. The football? Well that’s in the hands of our mighty national team so get your table booked and come along for what promises to be a great night 🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🏌️‍♂️ WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT AT THORNHILL GOLF CLUB! 🏌️‍♂️

On Monday 22nd June 2026, Thornhill Golf Club will be the stage for an incredible challenge as and attempt to break a Guinness World Record – all in support of a fantastic local charity, Prostate Buddies D&G.

⛳ The challenge?
To play golf continuously for 24 hours and complete more than 180 holes to set a new Guinness World Record!

💙 Why are they doing it?
To raise vital funds and awareness for Prostate Buddies D&G, a charity that provides essential support, advice and a safe space for men and their partners affected by prostate cancer throughout Dumfries & Galloway.

Every penny raised will stay local and help the charity continue its invaluable work in our community.

We would love to see as many people as possible come along to support David and Jeff during this remarkable challenge. Whether you can donate, sponsor, cheer them on, or simply share this post, your support will make a real difference.

Yesterday we introduced the campaign on our social media which has been launched by to cut the hospitality VAT rate from 20% to 10%💰

Most of you probably scrolled on past without giving it much thought but here’s what it means and why it actually matters to everyone, not just business owners 🚨

Right now, 20p from every £1 we put through our till goes straight to the UK Government. That’s before we cover other costs such as stock, staff, corporation tax, utilities and much more. We’re also supposed to be left with a small profit at the end of all of this which is almost impossible. Hospitality margins are tighter than ever and it’s time the UK government took meaningful action before independent hospitality becomes a thing of the past ❌

The coffee shop you meet your friends in after Parkrun. Your favourite hotel that you’ve been going back to for years. Your local restaurant where you met your other half. These aren’t giant corporations, in many cases these businesses are the heart of communities, the place that your family have shared many special occasions and venues that give lots of young people their first taste of employment, will all simply cease to exist before long if something doesn’t change.

We hear all too often how sad it is when a pub, coffee shop or restaurant closes but people move on and have forgotten about it a week later. Now you have a chance to make a genuine difference and it only takes 2 minutes of your time to show your support.

The hospitality sector has come together to launch – a united campaign and petition calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%.

Spearheaded by chef and publican , UKHospitality are working alongside trade bodies across the sector, such as and , hospitality communities like , and us, businesses across hospitality, to say 10% VAT is fair for hospitality.

Our sector pays too much tax, and VAT is the single biggest lever the Government can pull to support venues, our customers, our high streets and our local communities.

This campaign is for everyone: businesses, customers, waiting staff, chefs, kitchen porters, bar staff, hotel teams, farmers, brewers, suppliers and producers.
