Happy 3rd birthday, Ginni ❤️

These photos were taken the other year but she hasn't lost her inquisitive nature - and long may it continue 🥰

Happy birthday to the lovely Hank who has settled so well into his new home. 3 years old today 🎂.

I finally got round to asking Judith if I could share the photos and videos she has been sending me.

This video was taken a few hours after Hank arrived at his new home. Please watch with the sound on 🥰.

Although showing our ponies can be a great advertisement for them, videos like this equally show how great and well adjusted they are ❤️.

Welcome back to the Fell Pony fold, Judith 🙂.

Busy day!

Between the farm and equine vets I've spent nearly 6 hours with one vet or another today. Generally routine stuff. Oh, and the farrier was here for good measure.

Ponies:
6x feet
2x vaccinations
3x teeth
3x pre stallion visit scannings

Cattle:
4x feet
5x post bulling scannings
2x semen testing
Plus some other bits and pieces

Photo of the caps taken from Jude. At 4 years old I thought I'd missed collecting some.

Had a fabulous day yesterday with Horse Harmony and Laura Collins doing something I have wanted to do for ages.

Ranger was a star although was probably a bit bemused about being there as he hasn't been away from home for so long. He has previously done some natural horsemanship and took part in the Top Barns 12 Challenge a number of times so some things were not completely new to him.

Even better that we met up with friends and made a complete group of Fell Ponies. This was totally by chance as Laura hadn't realised I was bringing one.

Now I'm eyeing up suitable pallets and on the look out for pool noodles as well as more dates for the diary!

What an amazing week Chips has had!

She has progressed very quickly but this is also a testament to what we have done at home over the years.

Being brought up on a farm means the ponies see a lot, even when just being in the field.

There are times when I curse Tom for his abandonment of vehicles and implements but we usually manage to get past (or between) them. So far we've lived to tell the tale 🤣 and it looks like it helps our ponies in the long run ❤️

Chips is having a working holiday while we are lambing. Having unfortunately slipped what would have been her 2026 foal, we decided to make a start on her next career before sending her back to see Boutime Wooster shortly (if Debbie and Ste will have her).

By getting her ridden career started now it should give me extra tools to keep her weight in check while still hoping to get a full sibling to Hank. Not only that, it should give her a good start to being a ridden pony when the time comes

On what would have been Queen Elizabeth ll's 100th birthday, maybe we should raise a glass of Dubonnet and Gin to say Thank You Ma'am.

🚨 NEW WATCHLIST NOW LIVE 🚨 Our 2026/27 Watchlist, which reflects robust analysis of each breed’s genetic diversity and registration data, shows a mixed picture for the UK’s native livestock and equine breeds.

The most significant changes are the movement of two sheep and two cattle breeds to the Priority category:
🔴 White Park Cattle
🔴 Lincoln Red Original Population Cattle
🔴 Boreray Sheep
🔴 Soay Sheep

The data shows more positive indications for Native Aberdeen Angus cattle: the breed saw a 37.2% increase in total registrations, the highest number since 2000 👏

2025 was also a very successful year for the Suffolk horse, with the number of dams producing a registered foal the highest since 2010 📈

An emphasis on the importance of registrations has also helped drive a 132% increase of total registrations for the English Goat in 2025 compared to 2024 ✅

Join us throughout the week as we explore the insights from this year's watchlist with a focus on those four breeds moved to the Priority category this year.

I've been waiting just over a week to post this but Hank made his way to his new home yesterday. This special boy was snapped up before his advert went live. His new owner has been keeping me updated on how he's settled in and he has been such a good boy so far.
