After 5 years IMBY has made the difficult decision to cease trading. Low order numbers have meant we’ve become increasingly financially unsustainable and we need to prioritise ensuring we can pay our producers fairly, as has always been IMBY’s intention. IMBY has impacted so many of us and we’ve had so many lovely messages coming in. Thank you to our producers, customers, volunteers and supporters for everything over the past 5 years. It’s been a journey and we’re so glad we did it together

Our customers love the flexibility of ordering what they want, rather than having a pre-set veg box. We encourage our farms and producers to think about their packaging and reduce plastics. For some products (primarily leafy greens and salads) a plastic bag keeps the product much fresher, for longer.

If veg boxes are your thing we have a couple of boxes on offer from Apricot Centre too.

We've been loving the bbq weather recently, and find chipolatas perfect as they cook through quickly. Our lovely Laura hosted a wonderful last get together now everything has moved to Wales. We are so grateful for everything she had given to IMBY 🙏 ❤️

When life (aka Trill) gives you amazing basil, it's time to make pesto! I used cashew nuts as the base, steeped in boiling water for a few minutes to soften them. Also on my plate were skate wings, braised fennel and new potatoes. The perfect plate of IMBY food after dolphin watching and a dip in the sea at Beer yesterday!

Open for orders - Spring Cabbage and True Spinach

We are pleased to see another new Southwest producer on the scene - Goodh Life.
Goodh means wild in Kernewek (Cornish). Their market garden based at Grove, near Saltash is a haven for wildlife. They like to say that their main crop is biodiversity. Most of the land is managed following rewilding principles. Some areas of the farm are used to grow agro-ecological fruit and vegetables.

You will find their rainbow chard on the shopfront.

We're open for orders! New in this week we've rhubarb, baguettes, bouquets and salad radishes. We're absolutely celebrating the hungry gap and all the seasonal delights on offer this Spring ☀️

The rhubarb were grown by longtime IMBY volunteers Sue and David who are growing a little extra for the shop this year. If you're interested in growing for our community do get in touch!

In My Back Yard

Our Mission

In My Back Yard is a network of independent, small-scale food producers, wholefood suppliers and residents working together to build a more resilient, nourishing and community-centred food system for the local area.

Customers can order fresh, natural and delicious food direct from the producers via a convenient online platform. A phone buddy system will help those who aren’t online. Goods will be delivered to a collection point or direct to homes or businesses.

By working together, we support local producers with fairer prices, reduce food miles and overheads, revitalise the local economy and increase resilience to shocks in global markets.
