Safety: It's a team sport! 🏅

At Panton McLeod, staying safe and sharp is our top priority, and our safety observations are crucial to achieving this. Last year, we recorded 234 safety observations—a whopping 212% increase from 2022, which itself saw a 300% increase from the previous year! This impressive progress shows our dedication to proactive safety.

How do we achieve this? We made the reporting process easy and accessible. Notifications go to senior managers and we respond to as many of them as we can. Regular feedback in our bi-weekly All Staff Ops meetings keeps everyone informed and highlights the importance of these observations in preventing incidents.

Programmes like this have helped to keep our accident frequency rate below 1 per 100,000 hrs worked for the past 14 years. Together, we create a safer, more proactive workplace. Keep up the great work, team!

Chicken or egg.... dirty filter media or underperforming filter bed?

Gravity filter beds need to be cleaned in order to maintain efficient operation. Operating manuals say that - but it isn't always done. Filter floor nozzles or mesh floors block up over time. That causes poor back-wash performance which leads to media not being cleaned properly and eventually "mud-balling".

It is surprising how often the solution in that situation is just to replace that media with new. Treating that symptom might look good for a bit - but the cause still lurks below and soon the new media will also have problems.

Treat the cause - properly clean the floor and underdrain. Our innovative in-situ cleaning method gives you a choice: clean just the floor, or clean both the dirty media and the floor together.

Replacing filter media is carbon-intensive, creates unnecessary waste and cost. Our in-situ method improves filter performance while saving time, money, and reducing environmental impact.
