LAVANDIN 💜 || Started at 5am for bunch cutting fresh Lavandin today! The flowers are at the perfect stage for bunches, we sell fresh while the short season allows, then air dry several thousand for sale through the year!

The team are doing brilliantly today…. Order online for fresh delivery, or pick up a bunch in the farm shop.

LAVANDIN imholds the strongest scent and has beautiful long stems so lovely to use for crafts or to pop in a vase (without water!)

LAVENDER PICNICS 💜 || Last-minute tickets just released for this weekend!

The weather is set to be beautiful (cooler than the next couple of days!), the fields are coming into glorious bloom, so we have released tickets for Friday / Saturday / Sunday this weekend! The brightest bloom will be at the top of the field 💜.

Bring a picnic… your family, or some friends and enjoy the calming, relaxing surrounds of Ladybird Lavender.

THIS WEEKEND 💜 || We will be opening our fields this weekend for any visitors who wish to buy a ticket on the gate for the Lavender Walks Field! There will be a beautiful vintage Fergie tractor out for Father’s Day photos, and you can walk to the top of the field to take in the views across the valley. Here are all the details…

🙌🏼 Fields will be open for access from 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday.
💜 The best colour of Lavender is from the top of the field… as these rows are recovering faster from the late frost in May. Rows at the bottom will colour up in time!

FRESH BUNCHES 💜 || Pre-orders now OPEN - despatching next week w/c 21st June. Due to a limited supply of Folgate Lavender this year, we will only be offering fresh Lavandin bunches through our mail order service.

💜 This stunning variety boasts beautifully long stems and a powerful, invigorating scent — absolutely perfect for drying, crafting Lavandin bags, or simply bringing the fragrance of summer indoors.

💜 Lavandin contains more essential oil than traditional lavender, making it ideal for sachets, potpourri, and even natural cleaning blends.

💜 Drying tip: Split each bunch into three smaller ones and hang them upside down in a warm, dry space — just avoid direct sunlight to keep the colour vibrant.

Fresh lavender and/or lavandin bunches will be available from the farm shop throughout the season. However, as availability depends on weather conditions and harvesting schedules, we recommend calling ahead if you’re planning a special trip to purchase bunches.

GARDEN 🪴 || Right now we are despatching these beautiful 2-Litre pots of Folgate Lavender direct from the farm.

💜 This is the very same variety grown in some of Castle Farm’s most photographed fields, chosen for its exceptional colour, wonderful fragrance and reliable garden performance.

💜 ‘Folgate’ produces rich blue-purple flower spikes from late June and is perfect for borders, hedging, cottage gardens and wildlife-friendly planting. It’s also more strongly scented than the well-known ‘Hidcote’ variety, making it a favourite for drying, crafting and simply enjoying on a summer evening.

📦 Our plants are English-grown, well established in 2-litre pots, beautifully gift wrapped and supplied with full planting and care instructions.

🐝 Loved by bees and butterflies, these hardy lavender plants will provide years of colour, fragrance and pollinator-friendly blooms. Available by post nationwide, with delivery included in the price. Order online.

LAVENDER SEASON 💜 || Look at our Lavender Walks Field brightening up beautifully in the sunshine ☀️🌿💜. Tickets available online for all our Lavender Field events, with Field Walks and Guided Tours starting from Tuesday 23rd June!

This year, a late frost in May has slowed the development of some of our lavender crops, meaning the South-facing side of the rows are more vibrant than the north facing! But don’t worry, there will be plenty of purple, and our team will point you in the direction of the best views when you arrive! 

The colour of the Lavender will continue to build throughout the summer, becoming more vibrant week by week. The photo here was taken on 14th June!

CROP REPORT 🌾 || As summer begins to work its magic across the valley, here’s a little update on how this year’s arable crops are progressing. As you walk, cycle or drive through the valley between Shoreham and Eynsford see how many of these crops you can spot!

🌱 OATS have performed remarkably well considering the exceptionally dry start to the year. They are noticeably shorter than usual, and yields are unlikely to match long-term averages, but they’ve shown impressive resilience in challenging conditions.

🌾 WHEAT is generally looking very good. Strong root systems appear to have helped plants access moisture deep in the soil during the dry spring, and crops are now beginning the ripening process.

✨ BARLEY is turning a glorious golden colour across the valley, becoming the first crop to herald the golden hues of summer. It’s always a beautiful sight and a sure sign that harvest season is edging ever closer.

Every season tells its own story, and it’s fascinating to see how this year’s crops have responded to the weather and growing conditions.

KENT STRAWBERRIES 🍓|| The true taste of Summer has arrived in the farm shop — and they’re bursting with sweetness, juiciness, and unbeatable flavour! Kent strawberries are packed with proper flavour.

🍓 Grown on the same farm that supplies strawberries to Wimbledon, you know they’re something special.

OX EYE DAISIES 🌼 || Our glorious Ox-eye Daisies have burst into bloom — creating a stunning sea of white and gold.

Across the farm, our field margins and dedicated wildflower areas play an important role in supporting biodiversity and conservation, creating habitats and food sources for a huge variety of wildlife.

🌼 Did you know?
🐮 The name “Ox-eye” comes from the flower’s large golden centre, which was thought to resemble the eye of an ox.
🛻 You can see them quite regularly along roadsides and roundabouts, where they flower much earlier due to the warmer microclimates created by passing vehicles.
🌱 Ox-eye Daisies thrive in nutrient-poor soils, making them a characteristic flower of traditional wildflower meadows.
🐝 They are a magnet for pollinators, providing nectar and pollen for bees, butterflies, hoverflies and beetles throughout the summer.
