🐝 The queen is the only female in the hive that lays fertilised eggs and can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day during peak season.

👑 She develops from the same type of egg as a worker bee—the difference is that she’s fed royal jelly throughout her development.

🐝 A queen can live for 3–5 years, while summer worker bees often live for only 5–6 weeks.

👃 The queen produces pheromones that help keep the colony organised and united.

✈️ Early in her life, she takes mating flights and stores enough s***m to fertilise eggs for years.

WHY ARE BEES SO IMPORTANT YOU ASK?

Well simply without them many plants couldn’t re-produce 🌸

communication from bee to bee happens with something called a waggle dance, this is when a bee has found a really good patch of pollen and is letting the others know about it!! 🌅

The life cycle of honey bees from egg to adult becomes especially important at this time of year.
Queen cells are sealed between 8 - 9 days from an egg being laid. A sealed queen normally triggers a swarm with the old queen leaving with a significant percentage of adult bees.
A swarm can occur earlier if a queen cell is raised from a larvae

Lessons from the Beehive
The Complete Transformation of a Honey Bee

Did you know honey bees go through a complete metamorphosis? 🤯
That’s right — honey bees are holometabolous, meaning they experience four distinct life stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Each stage looks and functions completely differently — like a total makeover from start to finish! 90% of insects go through complete metamorphosis, so do many species of frogs.

Here’s how the miracle unfolds inside the hive:

🥚 Egg – Every bee’s story begins with a tiny white egg laid by the queen. In just about three days, that egg is ready to hatch!

🐛 Larva – Out comes a small, legless larva. Nurse bees feed it royal jelly or bee bread, and it grows fast, shedding its skin several times as it develops.

🧵 Pupa – Once fully grown, worker bees seal the cell with wax. Inside, the larva stops eating and transforms — growing wings, legs, eyes, and every detail of a mature bee.

🐝 Adult – When ready, the new bee chews through the wax cap and emerges into the world, ready to clean cells, nurse brood, or take flight as a forager!

✨ This process is one of nature’s most remarkable transformations — turning a simple egg into a complex, buzzing member of the hive.

🐝 "Did you know? The bee venom that causes pain can also become a medicine!"

🧠 Rheumatoid Arthritis is a major problem around the world.

👉 In ancient Egypt, Greece and China, bee venom was used to reduce joint and nerve pain.

👉 In Korea, it was traditionally adopted in the treatment of immune-related diseases.

🧪 Scientific research shows that bee venom reduces inflammation, pain and damage caused by inflammation.

It prevents bones and cartilage from breaking down and prevents the growth of cells that weaken the bone.

🐝 During arthritis, the inflammation increases so much that the tissue covering the joints itself accelerates the disease. This is why bee venom is considered helpful in treatment by stopping these cells.
