Rain ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐ŸŒง๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ
Our Growers are very happy to see some decent rain after the driest season yet. We've also heard scary stories this week of how close a fire in the woods next to our field came to us. Including a fire engine ๐Ÿš’ coming down our farm track!

It's all go right now, with big harvests, wedding flowers and apple juicing season.

But don't forget it's our Farm Open Day next Saturday - grab your tickets on our website ๐ŸŽซ

Saturday 5th September is our next Farm Open Day ๐Ÿšœ๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿซœ๐Ÿ… 11am to 3pm

And this will be a big one as it will be our last one with Doug! As he heads off to University this autumn.

If you've never heard from Doug and his journey setting up Regather Farm this is the time to hear it.

He loves talking about the farm and his tours are always the most detailed.

Attendance is free though we ask ยฃ2 for parking to help us manage spaces. You can book on to yours, grab some cake and veg or flowers and have a wander around our organic farm.

Link in the bio for tickets.

Five heatwaves in and this team is still showing up, still dedicated to bringing the best possible local, organic produce to Sheffield and to transform local landscapes for nature recovery ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ’๐ŸŒณ

This year has been tough on the land but also our team. We've had heatstroke and exhaustion. We've been working very early mornings almost the whole summer to avoid the heat and bring produce to you in the best possible condition.

Drivers have battled boiling cabs and sought the shadiest spots to leave deliveries for customers. While at HQ we've packed with ice packs on our necks and fuelled by ice-lollies. ๐Ÿฆ

Flowers have been picked at 7am or 8pm and kept cool in basements until the last moment before weddings.

We're tired and needing rest but the next month is actually one of the most important of the year. Our farm is meant to sell the most amount of produce of the whole year over the next few weeks. We've got weddings, PYO flowers and markets in the calendar.

So if there was ever a time to buy local veg, try your first fruit or veg box, or order local flowers, now is the time. With lots of customers on holiday it's definitely tricky making sure everything gets sold. But we massively appreciate any support. Donating your box rather cancelling also really helps and we've had lots of that this summer which is amazing ๐Ÿ˜

Fingers crossed for no more heatwaves ๐Ÿคž

It's apple harvesting time ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ

We are taking apple donations every Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-6pm at our Broom Close door from now until the beginning of September (or we hit our max capacity).

We're looking for donations of cooking and eating apples. We'll weigh them, process them and when it's ready give you 25% of the juice we make.

So if you've got a big tree loaded with apples, don't just compost them. Bring them to us and we'll juice them for you.

Details of the scheme are on our website.

The driest July in 190 years isn't a coincidence โ€” it's the threat DEFRA warned us about back in February. ๐ŸŒพ

UK farmers are watching their harvests struggle and are realising that the way we used to farm is not going to work for much longer.

While we wait for the Government to make the drastic changes needed, we're getting on with it: feeding people, restoring soil, supporting wildlife and advocating for change.

Our veg boxes are filled with locally grown produce, our farm is resilient and we represent a solution to these threats. As do the many regenerative farms and box schemes up and down the country!

Local food isn't a luxury โ€” it's national security. ๐ŸŒ

There have been plenty of extra courgettes to feed the Regather team in the past few weeks. Weโ€™ve all been thinking of new ways to include them in our recipes.

Have a look through these to see what we came up with!

๐ŸชดRaw courgette ribbons with a lemon, parsley, mint, olive oil and pepper dressing.๐Ÿชด

๐Ÿ‹Vegan courgette & carrot cake with lemon buttercream! It didnโ€™t last long on a Thursday packing shift! ๐Ÿ‹

๐Ÿ…Pasta with a slow cooked & blended courgette, red pepper and tomato sauce and fresh herbs. A very good โ€˜hidden veggiesโ€™ meal for those who need it! ๐Ÿ…

๐Ÿฅ•Air fried courgette, carrot and breadcrumb fritters๐Ÿฅ•

๐Ÿฅ—Grated courgette and carrot side salad! ๐Ÿฅ—

We are happy to announce that Rachel and Beau have returned to the farm after their holidays! Rachel ( Regather Flowers | Farmer Florist ) has been prepping for a mega week of 4 weddings next week. Beau has been helping her- heโ€™s actually assessing the soil in this first image.

Our amazing veg box manager Karen surprised one of the team with the most beautiful birthday cake!

Meg has been harvesting turnips this week at the farm, a first for us! Weโ€™ve also had another group of volunteers in today doing amazing work. Thank you volunteers!

Gareth is pictured here with the Gleadless Valley Wildlife Trust and the Gleadless Valley Funday. Heโ€™s also been driving the tractor for Eddie from Visit who came to the rescue with 2000 litres of water for the fruit trees at the Dungworth Community Orchard!

Quite the week! Regather has also signed a letter to the Prime Minister calling for a Good Food Bill which will ensure the food system becomes a national priority. Read more about this on the The Food Foundation

Have a nice weekend! ๐Ÿ…
