A Kirklees farmer has issued a stark warning to food shoppers, predicting that severe agricultural fallout from scorching weather conditions will trigger price spikes by early 2027. 🌾🚜

Jimmy Dickinson, owner of Tyers Hall Farm in Barnsley and Longley Farm in Holmfirth, revealed that heatwaves and dry spells are already severely hindering crop development and placing heavy stress on livestock. With grass growth slowing and fields dying off, milk yields have dropped, forcing farmers to tap into winter feed reserves early. 🥛🐄

Highlighting the growing threat to the industry, Jimmy warned: "We're going to see the real effects in January and February, 2027 time. If we're going to have to buy from somewhere else, the prices will skyrocket because everyone else will be doing the same; the demand will be higher." 📈

The strain on British agriculture comes as active UK dairy producer numbers have dropped significantly in recent years. Jimmy expressed grave concerns for the future of British farming, stating: "The future of the dairy business was unstable before and this has only made it worse. Seeing a cow in a field is going to become a rarity." 💔

Many local farmers fear the financial strain could force them out of business entirely, putting further pressure on domestic food production. 🛒
