The name Special Cuvée is a fitting one.
In 1911, Bollinger’s British agent felt the expression “non-vintage brut” just didn’t do justice to a Ch*****ne of such subtlety: “such a special cuvée!” He suggested the new name instead with its distinctive English spelling.
More than a century later, that name has lasted rather well, just like the Ch*****ne itself.
Drink it now, or store it in the cellar: the definition of an excellent dilemma.
