Well… today was a funny old day at the café! Maybe I was just in a little bit of a haze, but there’s one thing that always leaves me scratching my head…
If something isn’t quite right with your food, please do tell us! We promise we don’t bite (unless it’s into a delicious slice of cake 🍰😉).
We’d much rather have the chance to fix the problem there and then, whether that means replacing a dish, making an adjustment, or simply making sure you leave with the experience you came for. It’s always a little confusing when plates are cleared with smiles and “everything was lovely”, only for us to hear a different story at the till.
Running a café means putting a lot of love, care and early mornings into every cup of coffee and every plate we serve. We know we can’t please everyone every single time, and that’s okay — but we’ll always do our very best to make things right if we’re given the chance.
Anyway, enough of the serious stuff… tomorrow is a brand-new day! The kettle will be on, the coffee will be brewing, the cakes will be waiting, and our smiles will be ready to welcome you all through the door.

Can you believe it?! In just over three weeks, we’ll be celebrating our first anniversary of taking over the café… and what a year it has been! ☕🎉
There have been highs, there have been lows, there have been early mornings, busy days, plenty of coffee (and probably a few moments of “what are we doing?!” 😅), but above all, there have been the most amazing customers walking through our doors—both old faces and new ones.
Over the last year, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know so many of you and building some truly wonderful friendships and relationships. Your support, kindness, and loyalty have meant absolutely everything to us, and we really can’t thank you enough.
For me, stepping into the world of hospitality with no previous experience was definitely a case of learning on the job! I hope I’ve picked up a thing or two along the way (and managed to keep the coffee flowing and the smiles coming!). My husband, on the other hand, knows the café like the back of his hand, having worked here over the years, so his experience has been a huge help.
A massive thank you also goes to our incredible staff. We’ve had a few team changes along the way, but to the amazing people who are part of our café family today—thank you for believing in us, supporting us, and bringing your smiles, hard work, and personality to the café every day. We couldn’t do it without you.
To all of our customers, old and new, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our first year one to remember. We’re so proud of what we’ve built together and can’t wait to see what the next year brings.

At our café, we’re passionate about serving great food, quality drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. We like to think we do a pretty good job of it most of the time (and thankfully our many happy customers seem to agree!).
Of course, we’re only human, and occasionally things can go wrong. If something isn’t quite right with your meal or experience, please let us know while you’re with us—we’re always happy to put things right. Sadly, our time machine is still out of order, so once you’ve left, there’s only so much we can do!
In this case, we feel the review doesn’t truly reflect the dish in question, which is a popular favourite and something we very rarely receive complaints about. Had we known there was an issue at the time, we would have done everything we could to fix it.
We also kindly ask for a little patience and kindness, especially during our busiest times. A smile, a “please,” and a “thank you” go a long way—and our team will always return them with plenty of warmth (and probably a bit of café banter too!).
Hospitality can be a fast-paced and challenging industry, but we’re incredibly proud of our amazing team, who work hard every day to serve great food with a smile. We’ll keep doing what we love: making your coffee, preparing your favourites, and hopefully giving you a reason to come back again and again.

🌸 We’re feeling very floral at the café this week! These gorgeous trailing fuchsias were kindly gifted to us by one of our lovely customers and have already brightened up both our front entrance and the veranda at the back.
Moments like this remind us how lucky we are to have such a fantastic community around us. From thoughtful gifts to friendly chats over coffee, it’s the connections we make with our customers that make what we do so special.
A huge thank you to everyone who supports us. Whether you pop in for your morning coffee, meet friends here for lunch, or simply stop by for a chat, you help make this café what it is.

What a week it's been at the café! ☀️🍰☕
It's been wonderful to see our outdoor seating area packed with smiling faces, whether you've popped in for a coffee and cake, a leisurely lunch, or one of the delicious treats from our menu. Seeing the café buzzing with life is exactly what we love!
With the sunshine and busy periods, we've certainly been kept on our toes. There have been moments where it's felt a little like organised chaos, but thanks to plenty of teamwork, lots of caffeine, and a fantastic team effort, we've made it through with smiles intact!
We'd also like to take a moment to remind everyone that our staff are only human. We always do our very best, and a little kindness and good manners can make a huge difference during those extra-busy moments. 😊
If you ever have an issue with your food or drink, please let us know at the time. We're always happy to help and would much rather have the chance to put things right there and then than hear about it after the event.

Honestly, when we started this little café journey, we never imagined we’d have such an amazing community behind us — and now here we are hitting 1K followers! 💛

We’re aware of a Facebook account that has repeatedly posted negative comments about our café. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time, and the posts seem to target different aspects of the business, from our events to our food and service.
We would really appreciate the support of anyone who is able to report the post, as it would help us greatly.
We’re proud to say that the vast majority of feedback we receive about the café, our food, and our team has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from our customers and community.
As a business, we always strive to provide the best possible experience for everyone who walks through our doors. Of course, we know we won’t always get everything perfect, but we will always do our best to listen, improve, and support both our staff and our customers.
We don’t usually like addressing situations like this publicly, but we will always stand by our team and those who continue to support us. Thank you again to everyone who has shown us kindness and encouragement — it truly means a lot.

Even on his birthday, one of the big bosses and chefs of the café is STILL hard at work for the sewing club and all our lovely customers. Honestly, does this man ever switch off?! 😂☕🧵
From running the café to keeping everyone fed, happy, and looked after, he’s always giving 110% every single day. So today it’s our turn to give something back — a HUGE Happy Birthday to the man, the myth, the legend who is Floyd! 🎂🥳🎈
We hope you have an amazing day (even if you insist on spending it working 😅). Don’t worry, we’ll celebrate properly later when you finally get home! 🎉🍰🎁

We’ve had a very much-needed recharge of the batteries and will be ready to welcome you all back tomorrow morning!
Although we were meant to be off, we had to make a quick pit stop at the café as the staff needed an SOS — and of course, we came to the rescue!
Unfortunately, we also had another table on the veranda leave without paying. While it wasn’t for a large amount, these incidents do add up over time. Because of this, from now on, anyone sitting on the veranda or in the outside seating area will be asked to order and pay at the till first.
This isn’t something we wanted to introduce, but it’s necessary to help prevent this from continuing to happen. We really appreciate your understanding and support.
We hope you all enjoy the rest of your day, and we look forward to seeing you again soon at the café!
