Some wise words from the legend Wendell Berry who died a week ago - an author, farmer and environmentalist with a deep understanding of the land and the issues around it
This first quotation is one I’ve repeated often - the food industry is primarily beholden to its shareholders so creating addictive foods to make us eat more is a sensible goal for them. We have inadvertently put our health into their hands
And then Drs are barely trained in nutrition so they don’t pass onto their patients any information about the power of food and how helpful it can be alongside medical treatment. What a mess we have got into
He wrote a lot of essays, poems and books and always encouraged people to focus on community and nature. Definitely worth a look if you have not come across him.

Don’t go away though. Phase 1 might not have been sustainable and we were sorry to bid farewell to our fabulous chef Natalie Wall yesterday, but we feel determined to continue on our mission to inspire people to eat more veg and think about how their food is produced
Also we would love to see you at the Beckbury Food Festival on Saturday 3rd October where we will have a stall selling produce, preserves and some of our favouriste fresh foods

Don't go away though. Phase 1 might not have been a huge success! but we feel determined to continue on our mission to inspire people to eat more veg and think about how their food is produced

It's a funny time of year, a bit of a transition, going back to school - and it's suddenly feeling quite Autumnal - but it is the very best time of year for the English garden
There is really no excuse not to eat seasonally in September - from tomatoes, peppers, aubergines and courgettes to squash, chard and of course the Autumn fruits - plums, pears and apples
Enjoy! and don't forget to pop along to our stall tomorrow to pick up some seasonal fruit and veg, preserves and other bits and pieces we have made for you (as well as some cake!)
