Sweetcombe Roost

Two lovely bits of nature I’ve found here recently. Firstly, nearby I found glow worms! 🪲 Never seen them in the UK before!
Secondly, instead of swallows, this year the nest in the eaves has been converted to a house martin nest so look out for low flying birds as you go through the front door!

I do love a farmers market and some great local producers.

We are a lovely walk away from Blackbury Camp, famed for its English Heritage history and bluebells but quite honestly, I think the bluebells in our wood nearby are far better and totally unspoilt. A beautiful evening stroll this evening with the birds singing.

Love is definitely in the air at Sweetcombe Roost!
We have had our first engagement this week! Congratulations! ❤️
And a few weeks ago it was my base for getting ready before Steve and I finally got married 🥰

Despite the rain, Bramble and I have been enjoying some long local walks recently spotting the first signs of spring and enjoying a welcome coffee stop at Little Sands in Sidbury village to help us back up the hill home.

I liked this. Surrounded by the most beautiful countryside in an area of outstanding natural beauty (National Landscapes), we always find something on our walks, whether it’s a bug hunt, foraging, tracking wildlife prints, bird spotting and listening to their songs, identifying trees, flowers, fungus and moss, there is always something to find and learn in all the different seasons.

🌱 Start ’em young! 🙌🏼

Inspiring a love for wildlife begins early and we’re lucky to host a whole range of family-friendly events throughout the year to spark curiosity, creativity, and connection with nature. From hands-on activities to outdoor adventures, there’s something to get every little explorer excited 🌿🦋
